George Janeway, (1741-1826), was a member of the Committee of Safety; delegate to the Provincial Congress and captain of the Second regiment, New York City militia.
Thomas Leiper, (1745-1825), was treasurer, secretary and [p.143] officer of the Light Horse City troop. He was selected by Robert Morris to carry the last subsidies of the French to the army at Yorktown. He was born in Scotland; died in Philadelphia.
George Gray, (1725-1800), was a member of the Committee of Safety and Chairman of the Board of War. He was expelled from the Society of Friends and his wife went with him. She had studied medicine and surgery in England, 1749, and was his able support in the relief of soldiers.
John Ladd Howell, (1738-85), served as commissary of Purchases and as aide-de-camp to General Ellis. He died in Woodbury, N. J.

Ellis Campbell, (1756-1814), served as sergeant in Capt. Matthew Freeman's company, 1778, and was at the battle of Monmouth. The widow received a pension, 1836, for two years actual service as sergeant, New Jersey line. He was born in Metuchen, N. J., where he died.

Robert Simmons, (1754-81), served as lieutenant and lost his life at Eutaw Springs.
Jesse Holbrook, (1764-1844), was placed on the pension roll of Elbert Co., Ga., 1831, for service as private in the Virginia militia.
Samuel Howell, (1750-1824), served as a soldier in the Second South Carolina Regiment, 1775-78.
