John Brown (1728-76) was captain of a train-band from West Simsbury (now Canton) and joined the forces of the Continental Army in New York, 1776; died of camp fever while on duty in New York City. He was born in Bloomfield, Conn.
Gould Cressy (1760-1838) served several enlistments as a private in the Connecticut militia from 1777-80. In 1832 he applied for a pension, which was granted. He was born in Stamford, Conn.; died in Southington.

He was placed on the pension roll, 1832, from Orange County, Va. He was born in Albemarle; died in Orange County.

Solomon Strickland (1735-1818) served as a soldier in the Revolution. He was born in Ireland; died in Madison County, Ga.

Samuel Averill (1742-1824) served at lieutenant, 1776, in Capt. Daniel Scott's company, Col. Joseph North's regiment, Massachusetts militia, 1777. He was born and died in Alna, Me.
James Hodge (1730-1809) enlisted, 1777, and served in Col. Joseph North's regiment in retaking a ship loading with lumber at Sheepscot Falls. He was born in Edgecomb, Me.; died in Alna.
Isaac Clifford (1748-1833) served as a private, 1779, under Capt. Joseph Jones. He was born in Freetown, Me.; died in Edgecomb.
