Start be removing the steering nozzle. It is in the way of removing everything else. Do this by removing ONE of the phillips screws at either the top or bottom of the pump. I chose the top, but it does not matter. Once you have removed this screw, the steering nozzle will come right off.
Now pull out those four bolts. Notice that the pump is in two sections. These two sections DO come apart, and they will be tight. I had to get someone to hold one end of the pump, while I pulled on the rear. Obviously the tolerance for parts at Polaris is very high!
You should be left with one last piece, called the prop stator assembly. It houses the prop, the prop mounting shaft, and all the ball bearings, etc. that keep the prop on the jet ski. This is the support area for your prop, and should be handled with care.
Remove the three allen bolt screws from the exit cone in the back of the stator assembly. Pull the exit cone off and you're ready to remove the prop!
By the way, if your stator assembly is looking bad, Solas makes an after market one that looks really trick, and its cheaper than the stock part! Dennis Kirk advertises it for only $187.99. Call them at 1-800-328-9280 and ask for part #09-1263.
