Sorry, I forgot to say in the post below here by me again, that in the castle page, where it says that the former family was a John De Broughton, I am under the impresion, (and off hand, I dont know for sure, but could find out), that the De, is really for DELVES..........if so, there is also another whole different coat of arms that I wil try and scan an image over to you at another time.....

Hi again, I just went to the castle page, and it may interest some of your readers to know that the Delves Broughtons are a titled family.....with another castle as well. Delves is a middle name that we all have, as far back as the 12th century I believe and as of right now, my oldest brothr is the 13th Baronet of Doddington, and the family castle, Doddington Castle, is obviously in England as well, however, it has been turned over to the government, and if I am correct, it is presently being restored, s all castles are constantly being done......There is also a great film/book that came out in 1987-89 with John Hurt, Geraldine Chaplin, Greta Sacchi, called "WHITE MISCHIEF", about a scandalous murder in our family, in Kenya, in the 1940's...If intereste further, there are 2 British publications, one, being the best, as far as I am concerned, DEBRETTS PEERAGE AND BARONETAGE, that lists all of us, our births, deaths, etc, and it goes back, I believe until about the 1800's,although in our family, my brothr has a private book that traces us back until about 1200 or so. Another one,is Burkes Peerage, which I cannot comment on for I have never read it, but it may be of interest to some here...........In England, it is one of the oldest, most respected familys ..........Thanks, and if anyone needs any more info on this branch of mine, feel free to e-mail me at my address.

Great Website!!!! Would like to call to the attention of Broughton researchers a book; Broughton Lineage privately published in 1982. It is a very comprehensive collection of Broughton history and genealogy. I have a copy and I think Laurel County Historical Society in London, Ky has a copy. An excellent research tool. Edward

Great site, absolutely a great site. A newly found relative, Debbie Broughton, told me about this site two days ago, was in last night for the first time and love it. I come down the John I, John II, John III, Amos I, Amos II, Amos III branch which is documented already. Now the question is, I would like to contact the lady that sent you the information already recorded. We are related and she has information that I don't have or have been finding out. Our mutual relative, Amos III, is buried out in Ohio and we don't have the actual grave site so want some help from her if possible. Donald
Webmaster's Response: Thank you! And Thanks to Debbie for spreading the word! As for your question, We contacted the CR project member you are referring to. Check your email... contact info. is on the way.

My mother was Vera Broughton, born in Westchester Nova Scotia. Her parents were Albert Broughton and Bessie Tattrie. Her father's mother was Christine Broughton. I am not sure what her husbands name was, nor her maiden name. The son of one of my mothers b others is doing a family tree and has gone back quite a few generations. The family is scattered all over Canada and I am in touch with a number of them. One of my Uncles, Harold Broughton lives in Oxford Nova Scotia, and is 92 years old. I will be talkin to my cousin and find out if he is on the internet so he can be in touch with you, if not I will get information from him to pass on to you. I found your information very interesting. I have not read it all yet, but will get into more as I have time. Thank you, Nona.
Webmaster's Response: I'd love to add more on Broughtons from Canada! Any data you could contribute would be appreciated. Just email me when you have something more & I'll be happy to fill you in on the details of the BFT Contributing Research Project. I look forward to seeing your information. And Thanks!
