Past 7 Year Bitch News:

Nov 5, 1996 — 7YB On Hype! Soundtrack

The soundtrack to the movie "Hype!" is now out in stores. The film is a documentary from 1993 focusing on the Seattle music scene and should be appearing in theatres any day now. Up until this point, it has only been shown at a few film festivals and Seattle's annual Bumbershoot music festival. The soundtrack features 7 Year Bitch doing an amazing live version of "Knot". Look for it at most major music stores. Be sure to keep an eye out for the movie to hit a theatre near you soon as it has a short interview, as well as some performance footage, with 7YB. Thanks to Jill Dedrick for the information!

Oct 26, 1996 — 7YB Fanzine Released

Mike Durian and Scott Schulze informed me that their 7 Year Bitch fanzine, entitled "The Scratch", is now finished. They have been hard at work on it for the past few weeks and it sounds really cool. The cost is $4.00, or $3.00 plus some stamps, for around 25 pages of interviews, photos, guitar tab, lyrics, and other good stuff about 7YB. You can obtain a copy of this zine by sending the proper remittance to either of the following addresses:

Mike Durian
1079 Cloverdale Drive
Troy, OH 45373

or

Scott Schulze
2515 Inverness Ct.
Troy, OH 45373

Also, please make all checks and money orders payable to either Mike Durian or Scott Schulze. Thanks for the info Mike and Scott and keep up the great work!

Sep 25, 1996 — New Guitarist Found

It's official. After a couple rounds of tryouts over the past few weeks, the search is over. Here's the email I received from Elizabeth last night announcing who the lucky winner is:

"hey dan,

good news: our new guitarist has been found and it is indeed miss Lisa Fay Beatty, formerly of the S.F. band Mudwimmin. As you know, Lisa fay has been touring with us for years as our sound engineer and is a very close friend to us so it was an obvious choice. Also, she is a great player and has been playing guitar since the age of 9. Another plus is, she's known us since we barely began. We actually know her through Stefanie so she knows the band history first hand. She is also good friends with the Gits and was close to Mia, and this makes a difference for us personally, as you can imagine. We're really happy to get going again. Lisa Fay is learning the songs really fast, since she's been mixing us live for so long and is such a good musician. I predict we will be playing live again very soon and all of us can't wait. We are letting Lisa Fay pick out the venue and date and as soon as she does, I will email you, of course. I'm not sure if we'll tour first or start pre-production for the next record. Roisin has given us her blessing too. We'll miss her.

cheers,
elizabitch"

Looks like it won't be too much longer now until we get not only the opportunity to see them live in concert once again, but a brand new album to listen to as well! Cool news indeed. Keep checking back for the latest info to be posted as I receive it.

Sep 15, 1996 — New Guitarist Search Over?

Word has it that 7 Year Bitch decided on Roisin's replacement today. Keep checking back for the official announcement as to who it is. As soon as I receive the notice, you can be assured it will be posted here. Looks like the wait is over!

Sep 13, 1996 — New Guitarist Search

Elizabeth is back in San Francisco today conducting more auditions for Roisin's replacement. She and Valerie are jamming with a couple prospects to see how the chemistry works out. The email message I received indicated that they hope to have a selection made very shortly. Stay tuned...

Sep 2, 1996 — 7 Year Bitch Fanzine

Scott Schulze and Mike Durian (creator of the Babes In Toyland 'zine, "Screaming Kat") have started a 7YB 'zine called, appropriately enough, "The Scratch". Look for it to contain tablature, articles and related items. Their first issue isn't quite finalized at this time, but they are going to let me know as soon as it is so I can post details on where and how to obtain a copy. Thanks for the info Scott!

Aug 26, 1996 — Roisin Is Leaving

After being with the band for the past four years, 7 Year Bitch's guitarist has decided to settle down and begin a life outside music. I received the following statement from Elizabeth today:

"Hello Dan,
how are you?
Here is a little somethin' about our lovely yet departed Roisin:

'Roisin Dunne has decided she has had enough sex, drugs and rock n' roll for this lifetime, leaving the rest of the band to continue this fine tradition with some other lucky guitarist. We are currently looking for her replacement, which will not be easy but we want to keep going. Look for Ro in the year 2004 riding dressage in the Olympics.'

Cheers,
elizabitch"

It has been known for quite awhile that Roisin would be leaving. Word leaked out early and spread like wildfire which is why the breakup rumors have been so persistent. Roisin agreed to finish The Summerland Tour, but her leaving is why the previously announced tour of Europe was cancelled. The August 15th show at The Michigan Womyn's Festival was Roisin's last with 7YB. Last week, Elizabeth and Valerie began auditions for possible replacements, and by all accounts things went extremely well. I would think we'll see an announcement shortly.

While Roisin's departure is certainly a setback, it's not a situation unfamiliar to the band. Elizabeth has assured me that they wish to do nothing but continue on. Look for them to come back from this stronger than ever and stay tuned for more details on the search for the new guitarist as they become available!

Aug 11, 1996 — 7 Year Bitch Breakup Rumors

There has been lots of talk and many rumors lately that 7 Year Bitch has broken up or will be breaking up shortly. While these rumors are alarming and may sound like they are coming from respectable sources, I spoke with Elizabeth in person at the band's show in Seattle last night and I can reassure you that 7YB is NOT breaking up! Please help spread the word, to anyone who may be concerned, that everything is fine and they will be here to rock us for a long time yet to come. Stay tuned to this page for more details as they become available.
