Me and My Place!

Once upon a time...
Ooooppppsss...that is opening of the Bit by Bit page!
This is my little hideaway!  Judging by the small amount of visitors since the corporate takeover of the net in the summer of '96, it is definately hidden!  If this is your first time here, then welcome.*smile*  If you have tread this path before, then welcome back!
One of my favorite things to do on the net is to write HTML and design websites. I might be found talking about and/or teaching HTML in PowWow or ICQ. Stop by my links section for leads to HTML tips that range from beginning instructions to expert design strategies. Since I am always giving advice on homepages, I finally got off my butt and wrote a HP tutorial. It should be a good reference for folks just getting started and an informative tip shop for those who know what they are doing already. Stop by my How to Make A Home On The Web section for some helpful hints. I have added 240 backgrounds and 20 or so bars to the graphics section. These are my own original designs and you are welcome to any and all of them. Just don't forget where you got them! ;)
When I write HTML, I write it with both IE and Netscape in mind.  My favorite browser use to be Netscape, but as of late I seemed to have converted (or been corrupted by aliens) to IE.  Both browsers have features and formats that have advantages over each other.   I use to say that if Bill Gates was smart, he would buy Netscape out.  Now with all the anti-trust hearings and government interference into what looks to me like just good business practices, I suggest he just keep contributing to charity and go enjoy the money that the goverment doesn't take in taxes.

Special hugs and warm smiles go to my best friend of many many years Lady of Stone.  Everytime I look into her baby blues with my emerald greens, I know how big a sweetheart she really is. We believe that regret kills the soul and OUR souls are alive and well!

Take my hand darlin' and we'll explore the world.

Take some time and go visit her.  She writes great HTML!

While you are here, take a look at your world Bit by Bit, grab some Backgrounds, some Bars, view a few Pictures, read about The Dallas Cowboys, read what I Think, remember the 80's with a look at Heavy Metal, read some Poetry, take in some Quotes, or just Trip OUT!
If you're lookin' for the Links section, I have added so many to it that I had to put it on it's own page and divide it into categories!  Try some out, there are links for HTML, Java, animated gifs, sounds, movies, and all kinds of stuff; they are definately worth a look! I used to think they were all the links one would ever need, but for a really comprehensive list of what is on the net, go visit your favorite search engine.  There are links to just about all of mine that I use on the Launch Pad.

The Launch Pad!

For those that have been wonderin' what I look like, here are a couple of pictures taken on one of my ski trips...Outside...Walkin'...Gettin' ready to hit the Hill.  Here is one of me before I learned to ski! ;)

Everybody sing!  The weather started gettin' rough. The tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost. The Minnow would be lost. Okay, okay, so I don't sing that well, but I did save you from having to hear the ENTIRE theme song.  If you were like me, Gilligan's Island was one of your favorite shows when you were a kid.  I figured it would be rude not to mention it or Bob Denver's Website.  I also thought it would be a good segway to WeatherNet.  They have really nice real time satellite images for around the world.

I support free speech on the net...don't you?

I know sometimes we, as Americans, can get caught up in our lives such that we forget what it is all about. Well, do some reading of The United States Constitution, The Bill Of Rights, and The Declaration of Independence. Remind yourself of why this country is here and why we fight so hard to protect it and our rights as its citizens! Each and every American born in this country was given a gift of priceless freedom.  But don't ever forget those that came before us and fought and died in too many wars to ensure we had that freedom.  The next time you see a vetern, just take the time to thank them for doing what they do.  You might even want to contribute to the WWII memorial fund.   It is about time we recognized them, albiet on a small scale for their enormous sacrifices.

As we Americans sit back and watch our rights crushed underfoot of the self declared guardians of us all, we should ask one question. Are we really threatened? We are all part of the greater whole. Is the oppression really that bad, or is it a panic button we push when we feel at risk? The path is not set for the internet and neither are the rules, despite the efforts of others to set them the way they would like. Effort should be taken by everyone to ensure that their rights, not privilages, as Americans are not lost, but don't push the panic button so soon.  It is paramount to remember that EACH and EVERY American can have an impact on the way this country is run.  Go out and Vote, make that difference!  Just because someone or some group tells you that you can't do that or that is against the rules or that is not the way it is doesn't mean it cannot be changed.

The story of mine that I tell is the one about the rock.  One day, there was a man walking around, and when he looked down, he saw an object that he had never seen before, and he was sure no one had ever seen this thing before either.   When he picked it up, he glanced at it sideways and from the top spinning it around in his hand.  He then proudly declared to himself that this was to be known from now on as a rock.  He took the "rock" back to his village and proclaimed to all the people that what he had found was a rock and was to be called such.  All the villagers took a long hard look at the thing, glanced back at the man and declared it to be a rock.  It kinda caught on from there.  So do you get the point?   Someone, somewhere, sometime, decided what all things would be, how they would be run, and what the rules would be.  Don't let anyone hold you back.  If you don't want to call it a rock, then call it what makes you happy.
