The first and latest news of the year is that Superfire is finally due to be
aired on Saturday 20th April at 9pm (check local listings) on ABC.
On a personal note, I apologise for the lack of updates over the past few months. I don't have as much time as I used
to when I first started this site (almost 4 years ago), but I do intend to get back on track with keeping it updated.

November 27th
I received an email from DB Sweeney yesterday regarding a new play he will be performing in called
Two Churches, written and directed by Shem Bitterman (his play The Job was widely praised and ran in both New York
and LA). The play will be at the The Blank Theatre in Los Angeles, which is a very small theatre run by Daniel Henning
and Noah Wyle (Dr Carter in ER).
As it is a small theatre, most of the shows are sold out but there are some tickets left for Thursday 29th November
and Sunday 2nd December at 8pm, however other shows through 9th December may become available as well. Tickets are
only $15.
Obviously this will be a great production, and money goes to a good cause so if you live in the Los Angeles please
snap up those tickets! If you can't make the show, but still want to contribute to the survival of the theatre, the
Blank Theatre web site has further contact information.
If anyone is lucky enough to see this show please send me a review! I would
also like to say thank you to DB again for keeping us updated.
October 4th
This week I had the pleasure of an extensive update from DB. He provided me with some very pleasant news
news - in August DB became a father! His wife gave birth to a son, named Cade. I am sure you will all join me in saying
"Congratulations!", and wishing them all the best. DB didn't announce this with any of the Hollywood outlets, so I am privileged
that DB decided to share this news with site and his fans.
On the acting front, DB has a LOT of work on :)
Greenmail as been completed, and the film may be released at the end of the year. DB hasn't seen the film yet, but
apparently the producers are very happy with it.
Superfire is scheduled for a January 2002 airing on ABC. There may be potential for an international theatrical release
for the film, so I'll keep you updated if I hear anything on that front.
DB has also been very busy with voiceover work! The largest project he is working on is another voiceover for animated Disney
film, which will have 'bear' in the title. DB's character will be the brother to Joaquin Phoenix's character, Graham Greene
also provides his voice.
You will also be hearing a lot of DB's voice on the Discovery channel! The first program he has done work for is called Untold
Stories of the Navy Seals. He will be doing more voiceovers for continuing programs with military and law enforcement topics.
Unfortunately we don't know an air date yet, but I know there are some eagle-eyed fans out there so if you happen to see the show in
the TV Guide please send me an email.
DB has also completed some Coke commercials to promote the Harry Potter movie (suburban Chicago cleverly doubles for
suburban London). DB remains the voice of Bud lite, Lincoln cars, Sony computers, Kinkos copies (including the telephone voice when one
is on 'hold') and a few others - please let me know if you hear DB's voice in other commercials not listed here!.
I would like to say a big THANKS to DB for such an extensive update.
Congrats also has to go to DB for the success of Hardball. The film is currently #4 at the US box office,
following on from its 2 week reign at the #1 spot. I got to see the film whilst in Washington DC recently, and thoroughly enjoyed it. DB's role, if small, was
very well played and a welcome return to the baseball genre.
Some further news from a little while back... thanks goes to Mike for the following news: DB has authored the forward to a book by
his high school theatre teacher, Jeff Bennett (DB was a student in Mike's HS English classes in the past). The book is
titled Secondary Stages : Revitalizing High School Theatre, and will be published some time this month. You can
purchase it at Amazon.com using this
link.
I am also continuing to update the site to the new design as quickly as I can, so please bear with me during the changes :)

Have you been searching for posters
from DB's films? I get many emails on this matter, asking if I
know where people can find posters from his films, in particular
The Cutting Edge. I always had to unfortunately reply with
bad news that I didn't know where to find them. However, I inadvertantly
came across an Internet store today that stocks many film posters,
including a large selection from DB's films! To go direct to The
Cutting Edge page, go here. To search for other DB related material,
go here. They will make nice gifts, or you can
just treat yourself :)

DB Sweeney in X-Men? This seems to be the latest news on the
IMDB, stating he is an 'uncredited' police officer. Now having
seen the film 3 times at the cinema, and on DVD since then I was
curious as to how I, and his many fans across the world could
have missed this. It seems that the IMDB is wrong this
time around (I intend to get that corrected somehow), as they
sometimes happen to be (they have only just corrected Pearl
Harbor's Michael Shannon's listing, previously listing him
as not the same actor who appeared in Tigerland). A friend
told me they had heard DB appeared in the scene when the rival
Mutants are arriving at Liberty Island. There is a police officer
waving a boat in, who consequently gets killed by Sabretooth.
I watched this scene in slow motion on DVD, and it is definitely
not DB! The actor (who I believe is Ben Jensen, listed on the
IMDB as Sabretooth Cop) looks very much like him, enough for those
not totally familiar with DB's face to think it was him, but it's
not still not our DB!
More from the IMDB (and thanks
Lisa W. for letting me know)... Hardball was scheduled
to be released in the UK on June 22nd! This had been stated in
a couple of UK film magazines, but unfortunately the release never
came to fruition. So I don't know when we can expect to see it
in the UK, but the Imdb states it will be released in the US on
14th September so keep your fingers crossed that's still on track.
Over the past month or so I have
received a few emails from people who had the pleasure to meet
DB in New Zealand. It appears his new TV movie, Superfire (about
smoke jumpers), was filmed over there for about eight weeks. Brendon
(who was an extra on the shoot) told me it is about a small town
in Oregon that is threatening to be burnt down by a forest fire
engulfing it. Apparently a town called Tokoroa which had just
the right look for the filming.
Greenmail,
the independent film DB filmed in Vancouver is also now included
on the Imdb and lists Stephen Baldwin and Tom Skerrit among DB's
co-stars.
For those of you who own DVD players,
Eight Men Out is now available to purchase. The only extra
features are the trailers, but since I have heard from many fans
who had difficulty finding the film, now's your chance to buy
it!
On a final note, I would like
to say that in June this web site celebrated its 3rd birthday!
Unfortunately these days I can't update it as much as I used to,
but my heart is still 100% into it :)
April 17th
If you wish to visit the Discussion
Board, you will see there is now a new version there. Hope you
like it! I don't really want to go into details of what caused
me to take it down, but I felt things were getting out of control
and the only way to stop it was to remove it. This Board now has
functionality which allows me to delete posts and block certain
IP addresses if the situation gets out of hand again. I'm really
loathe to do that sort of thing, but I think it's in the best
interests for everyone to have that ability. It's just a shame
that a few had to spoil it for the many :(
On a lighter note, has anyone
seen Charlie Robison's music video for the song "I Want You
Bad"? I have been told on two account's of DB's appearance
at the end of the song - apparently he has a mustache and is showing
the woman in the video a gun collection. This video shold be screened
on CMT in the US, but a version of the video will be appearing
shortly on Robison's web site.
Thanks goes to Chris for finding
these rather amusing pictures of DB taken at the MTV studios I
belive :)
Finally, apologies if you have
sent me an email recently and I haven't replied, I will reply
to you ASAP (it's just been one of those weeks!).
March 3rd
Deepest apologies for the lack of updates recently, but time
has really been flying by and before I know it it's March already.
Plus there's nothing like an email from DB to make me update and
share the news! DB is currently filming
an independent film called Greenmail in Vancouver. Following
that, in a month he will be filming a TV movie about smokejumpers
(those who put out difficult forest fires) for ABC. Also, DB's
third appearance in Once & Again will be airing on
ABC at the end of March - I'll update when there's confirmation
(after ABC's recent treatment of the series' episodes we don't
want to get excited just yet :)
Further, DB responded to Lisa
W.'s recent post on the Discussion Board - he is the voice on
the new Sony Vaio ads. He also continues as the voice of Bud lite!
So now you have an excuse to sit and watch the commercials whilst
someone else puts the kettle on :)
January 9th
Well, here we go, another year
of updates :) Hopefully we will finally get to see DB's
episode of Once and Again. Thanks goes to Lisa who informs
me it is due to be aired on Wednesday January 17th. I really don't
understand why ABC had to delay it so long, can anyone tell me
if the episodes are out of synch now? Why couldn't they have aired
it the next available week?
Lisa has also discovered that
DB has recorded another audiobook called The First Counsel.
This is available on CD - you can read more using this link, and find purchasing info using this
link.
Also of note is the fact that The Cutting Edge
is now available on DVD. Unfortunately there are no extras except
a trailer - I'd have loved a commentary and some behind-the-scenes
footage. At least it's in widescreen :)
Finally, look closely at this
video cover of the No Man's Land re-release (thanks again
Lisa). See something strange? I have watched this film many times,
and have never seen Patrick Dempsey or Jennifer Connelly in the
film! This picture comes from Amazon.com, but has anyone seen
it in stores with this cover? Answers on a postcard please :)
