FILM: Adaikalam
CAST: Prasath

These are days when a hero has not one but many heroines, Kaladass Creations' Adaikalam is unique in the sense that there is no heroine. The film is a family oriented drama and it was Prashanth's idea not to have a heroine says the director. Bhuvanaraja who has worked as an assistant to K.S. Adhiaman is making his debut in Adaikalam as a director. Apart from direction he has written the story, screen play and dialogues. Bhuvanaraja says, "Normally debuting directors like to play it safe by taking up romance subjects. But I wanted to give the audience something different. When I narrated the story to Thiagarajan he emphatically said that there should be no compromise for the story."

The story revolves around a father and his children. There are just five characters in this film - The father Thiagarajan, his wife Saranya, their children Prashanth and Uma and their maternal uncle Radha Ravi. For some reason Thiagarajan is separated from his family. He enters his wife's house after 20 years for her funeral. He is forced to stay in the house till the 16th day ceremony is completed. The children grew up with an aversion towards their father and do not change their mind during the 16 days. The film ends with a twist when he mentions the story behind the separation. Bhuvanaraja opines "I want to break the bastion that movies are only love stories. I want to give a successful family oriented drama. There is so much melodrama in the film that it will reduce the weak hearted to tears. The movie will change the definition of present day mothers. With such a weighty character Adaikalam will definitely be a turning point in Sharanya's career. Apart from the five main characters Kottachi, Kadugu Ramamurthy and Jeeva are cast in the film. Sabesh - Murali scores the music and T.Anandakumar cranks the camera. Adaikalam is produced by Kalavathi Sri Narayanadass and Sri Narayanadass.

FILM: RAAM
CAST: Jeeva

"Directors and actors should try their hand at film-making in order to know the difficulties involved in production", says director Ameer, a one-time associate of director Bala, who is ready with Raam which he is producing and directing. The movie has Jeeva in the lead. Jeeva who is producer RB Choudhary’s son was launched by his father in Aasai Aasaiyai. It was an average movie. Once again Jeeva acted in Thitthikudhe produced under his home banner. This too did not set the box office on fire. Jeeva felt that his third film should be an action film since his earlier two films had him in lover boy role. Ameer says, "I chose Jeeva to play the hero since I felt he would fit the same. He has given his best on-screen and I am pretty much satisfied with his commitment". Gajala who made her debut in Tamil with the film University plays his lady love.

Ameer took a long break before launching this film. Posters of Jeeva sporting a ‘red tilak’ on his forehead and dressed like a ‘sadhu’ were splashed in the city on the launch day. The who’s who of Tamil cinema turned up to greet the director and hero. Ameer says that the title is just kept for catching the attention of the public. He says, "It is about the love and affection between a mother and son narrated in a different way. Though I had offers coming my way after my debut in Mounam Pesiyadhae, I was keen on producing and directing this subject, which I conceived long back." He continues, "The entire movie happens in Kodaikanal and we completed the entire talkie portion in 10 months. The whole film was shot in Munnar, Kodaikanal and Yercaud since the subject demands natural surroundings. Not one frame was shot in Chennai. The film has romance, action and sentiment in the right mix and would certainly appeal to the masses". Actress Saranya plays Jeeva's mother in the movie and Rehman comes in an important role. Murali, Karunas, Malvika, Ramswami and Sakthi are the other artistes. Cinematography is by Ramji and music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film is produced under the banner of Teamwork Production House.

FILM: Pepsi
CAST: Shaam & Laila

After '12B', cinematographer-turned-director Jeeva is on to directing his second film titled 'Pepsi'. Apart from Shaam and Laila, the film introduces three new faces in Iman, Asian and Pooja.

Says Jeeva about the title, "It has nothing to do with the soft-drink. Pepsi is formed from the first alphabet of the names of my five characters-P. (Priya) E. (Eesa) P. (Pooja) S. (Shaam) I. (Irene). The story centers around these five characters. The three girls and two guys who are thick buddies separate, and then meet at a wedding. It's their experiences which forms the story for my film". On the theme Jeeva adds, "We are not all lucky to get what we like. So it's better to like what we get! This is the film's concept."

There were some scenes shot at a cricket stadium where the lovers have a tiff. The scenes were shot with Iman and Pooja. Iman tells his girl friend that he's lost his place in the cricket team. When she asks him the reason, he tells her that since he was spending time with her that day, he obviously couldn't go for the qualifying game. She calls him irresponsible, and advises him to concentrate on the game. "First concentrate on your cricket. Love can follow later. There's no hurry!" Jeeva is both the cinematographer and the director of the film. The screenplay and dialogue are by Sujatha.

Produced by Mahadevan Ganesh and Manoharan, the film has music by Harris Jairaj. '12B' didn't quite reach the masses, the way Jeeva expected it would. This film hopefully should prove luckier for him at the box office.

FILM: CHANDRAMUHKI
CAST: Rajnikanth & Prabu

Now the latest news is JAGGU BHAI has been replaced with "Chandramuhki" in which rajni stars with prabhu and jothika.
This movie is said to be a remake of a hit kannada film.

The story of Chandramukhi takes place with a young couple, Prabu & Jothika arriving at the ancestral home of the latter. As a school girl, Jothika had grown up imbibing her grandmother's ghost stories in their ancestral home. She was transplanted to Kolkata after school. Her mind, which had forgotten all those stories suddenly comes alive when she and her husband came to live in his 'haunted' ancestral home. The story comes alive with Rajnikanth's arrival and how he saves the couple from this spirit.

It all started when Rajni, who was holidaying and meditating in Bangalore, happened to see a Kannada film that is running houseful -- Aaptamitra. It stars Vishnuvardhan and the late Soundarya (she died in an air accident while on a promotion tour for the BJP during the general election), and is said to be the remake of Fazil's Malayalam classic Manichitrathazhu.
The grapevine has it that Rajni, who was so impressed with Aaptamitra, wanted P.Vasu to remake it in Tamil.
