Best Media Associates India (P) Ltd who, makers of Variety Cinema Directory for the past 13 years have constituted Cinema Awards in their name. This is the fourth year that they will be giving the awards. The awards ceremony will take place on the 23.01.05 at Madras University Centenary Auditorium, Chennai.

Dhanush injured

Young and upcoming Tamil actor Dhanush sustained injuries as he slipped and fell when his enthusiastic fans mobbed him at a park in the city today.

The actor was admitted to the Sri Ramachandra Medical College hospital at suburban Porur. Hospital sources said the actor was under observation and was likely to be discharged soon and added that his test reports had shown that there was no cause for worry.

Dhanush had shot to fame with his debut in 'Thulluvatho Ilamai'. His next two projects 'Kaadhal Kondein' and 'Thiruda Thirudi' were also runaway hits. The actor had returned to the city this morning, after completing a shooting schedule for a forthcoming film, in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
Kasturi Raja, Dhanush's father said, "I am shocked by this fan frenzy which has reached ridiculous heights. But thank God nothing serious happened."

Dhanush's fractured hand has set alarm bells ringing among producers in Kollywood as nearly Rs 50 crore is riding on the tender shoulders of this boy-wonder! He has signed about seven films to be made in the next two years!

Suchitra ...who?
Oomaha Zeeya...the beginning of the hit song Uyirin Uyire from Kaakha Kaakha tuned by Harris Jayaraj has become a national anthem in the discos and campuses in the South.

The song has a Japanese tone about it and sensuality rushes through when you hear Suchitra and KK singing it. Suchi is a Radio Jockey (RJ) with Radio Mirchi and hosts the popular breakfast show “Hello Chennai”. Her sparkling wit, spontaneity and intelligent conversation have been an instant hit with the ‘machas’ and ‘mamis’ of a conservative Chennai.

Suchitra compels you to stop and listen. Those who have heard her new number from JJ, May masam 98’il...major aane written by Vairamuthu and tuned by Bharadwaj swear that this song is going to be the next O Podu. This item number is picturised on Reema Sen and is shot at the Visakhapatanam railway station. The song is sure to top the charts once the visuals appear on channels.

Said music director Bharadwaj: "Suchitra invests a lot of vigour and energy in her numbers. She is sure to go places." In JJ Suchitra also makes a cameo as an RJ Suchi and helps Amoga find Maddy! And the big news is that she is acting in a film directed by India’s finest director!

A vicious onslaught has been launched against her; the latest is the nearly 3 minutes of her nude bathing clip doing the rounds on the internet and mobile phones. When contacted Trisha told “It is a vicious campaign unleashed against me by vested interest to smear my reputation. The video clip that you see is not me”.

But Trisha’s detractors swear that the particular bath scene was taken by a hidden camera at a star hotel in Hyderabad where she was staying. However her mother Uma also says that “Trisha does not take bath under the shower as shown in the video clip as she prefers a tub! I can’t understand who is behind such a dirty campaign”.

However the actress has taken the bold step to file a complaint with cyber police in Chennai and Hyderabad.

• Actor Parthipan and wife Sita are finally getting divorced after 14 years of married life! They have applied for a divorce due to mutual consent in the family court in Chennai.

  Parthipan had made his debut in Tamil films with the 80’s super-hit Puthuya Pathai and has acted in many films. Sita, a top actress at that time was Parthipan’s pair in many films and the lovers got married in 1989. Parthipan has also produced films like Housefull and Ivan, which were not commercially successful.

  They have three children Abhinaya (12) and Keerthana (11) and an adopted son Radhakrishnan. But for the last few years the couple had difference of opinion and they were living separately. Now they have finally decided to get an official divorce and go their separate ways!

  BOYS hero Siddarth got married
  Siddharth the lead hero of the Shankar directed Boys has tied the knot with his long time lover Meghna at Delhi yesterday. Siddharth who is a MBA graduate had aspirations in becoming a director and joined under Manirathnam as an assistant director and worked for the film Kannathil Mutthamittal.
  Unlike in the film Boys, the marriage was done with the consent of both the parents. The couple has gone honey mooning to Srilanka. Siddharth, who is currently acting in Mani’s Ayudha Ezhutthu as one of the three heroes will return on 17th to join the shooting.

  Jism, the controversial Hindi film produced by Pooja Bhatt was dubbed in Tamil as Dhegam and got released yesterday. It is banned from screening as the North Chennai Congress leader Mano and a group of congressmen staged a ‘dharna’ in front of the theatre demanding the films ban, alleging there were objectionable references about their leader Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi.
  In the meantime a press release from Congress head S.Balakrishnan says that the film was stopped following a complaint about the derogatory scenes of their leader to the Home Secretary of State, Syed Munir Hodha

• It's an interesting teaming up of K. Bhagyaraj, Parthibhan and Pandiarajan in a new, untitled film. Parthiban and Pandiarajan play brothers who fall in love with the same girl, and Bhagyaraj provides the third angle in the story. Producing and directing the film is S. Sivakumar who had apprenticed with Bhagyaraj, and directed two films 'Ayudha Pooja' and 'Irattai Jadai Vayasu'. So, it's Bhagyaraj, with two of his assistants-turned heroes sharing frames with him, and a third one directing them! The rest of the cast and crew have yet to be finalised.

  RUN is to be remade in hindi and Abishek Bachan & Boomika will be the lead cast.

• Director Bala's next movie is title "Pithamagan" and it starred by Vikram and Surya and also Laila.It is a casting coup of sorts in Tamil filmdom. Hot director Bala, of Sethu fame, has roped in top hero Vikram and young hero Surya for his new film, Pithamagan. It is Bala, a disciple of Balu Mahendra, who had launched Vikram's career in new way with blockbuster Sethu. Until then Vikram was just an ordinary hero, doing some odd roles here and there. And with Nanda, he had launched Surya's career.

  To repay their Guru Dakshina, the hot heroes of Kollywood have agreed to do a film together for Bala. The film is scheduled for launch next month. V A Durai of Evergreen Internationals, who was executive producer of Baba, produces the film. Maestro Ilayaraja scores the music for this film. Bala is looking for new faces for the heroines. Vikram plays a 'Vettiyan' the keeper of the graveyard, and Surya who appears in a few scenes plays his friend.

FILM: PRIYAMANA THOZLI

• Madhavan and Sridevi have been friends for a very long time. Why do his parents verbally abuse her when Madhavan brings her home after her father's death? Don't they know that it is humane to help others in distress?

  When Madhavan is going to his friend's wedding, Manivannan removes his gold ring and gives it to him. He asks him to give the ring as a present for the wedding. He doesn't even ask who the friend is. Very unnatural and cinematic scene it is.

  How does Jyothika fall in love with Madhavan? She doesn't even know who he is but falls in love with him when she hers the song he had sung for her on the cassette that mysteriously gets in her hands.

  Madhavan doesn't go to work at all. why does Sridevi set him a video shop anyway?

  Vineeth's dad says that his son would get a place in the Indian cricket team if Madhavan opts out. How is that possible?

  Vineeth gets within hearing distance of Madhavan and his dad only after his dad completes his blackmail threat. How did he come to know about the threat? Does he have ultrasonic hearing power?

  In the climax, Madhavan and Jyothika pack their belongings and leave for Mumbai. They don't seem to carry much luggage with them- only two suitcases. What happens to the rest of the household things?

  In the final scene, Sridevi looks for Madhavan all over the city. She starts singing the song that only the two of them know. Madhavan is waiting for his train at the railway station. He hears the song and comes running to see her. Did Sridevi have a satellite link for her voice to be heard all over the city?

  In the above scene, Jyothika pulls the emergency chain to stop the train. After a while, the train leaves. In real life, trains don't leave until they find out the reason why the chain was pulled. There is also heavy penalty for pulling the chain without a valid reason. How did Jyothika escape all that?

  In the end, Madhavan is selected for the Indian cricket team. What a pathetic joke this is? The two (Vineeth and Madhavan) keep exchanging the position between them. What is the cricket Selection board doing? Where is logic here? The director has made it look like railway ticket reservations.

FILM: KADHAL KISU KISU

• The whole film was shot in Malaysia. But, instead of showing the god things about Malaysia, they make the film look as if it had been shot in Tamilnadu. Why did P Vasu unnecessarily whip up a huge bill for the producer?

  P Vasu unnecessarily appears as a Police officer and claims that he has rescued the hero. But, there are no signs of his rescue.
  The college is full of rowdies. Nobody seems to stop them!
  Vivek is a college student. But, nobody bothers to tell us what he studies.
  After mouthing so many loud and ferocious dialogues, Kalabhavan Mani helps the hero get married to Charmi. Unbelievable!
