Trisha means success. Her parents have chosen this Russian name for Trisha Krishnan, their only daughter. 'Laysa Laysa' in which she is paired with Shaam is the first film she has signed. She informs us that this film directed Priyadarshan. Followed by 'Laysa Laysa', she's working in 'Enakku 20, Unakku 18' by AM Rathinam and directed by his son, 'Mounam Pesiyuthey' with Surya and 'Thiruda' with Ajith. Busy with her shooting schedules, Trisha informs us that the first film to be released would be 'Lesa Lesa'.

She's nicknamed Honey at home (thats how her dad calls her, and mom calls her 'Thrish') and her friends address her 'as 'Trish'. This year, she cut a big cake and celebrated her birthday for the first time at Hyderabad, with the crew of 'Enakku 20, Unakku 18', a meomrable event according to her. "When people hear my name, they think I am a North Indian girl. We hail from Palghat from the days of my grandfather.

My mother belongs to a tamil family living in mumbai, we are tamil brahmins. I was born and brought up in Chennai. My schooling was at Church Park, followed by Ethiraj college, where I am pursuing BBA, and at this stage of my life, I entered the modelling field.

"1999 as a turning point in my life. I got slected as 'Miss Salem Steel City' in a fashion show held at Salem. The same year, I got selected as Miss Chennai in the pageant at Chennai. I participated in the Miss India contest in 2001, in which I was awarded 'Miss Beautiful Smile'. I got many offers to work in films, which I avoided. I had even declared that I wouldn't work in films. I had no experience in films, plays and I wasn't matured enough. Morever, I felt acting in films would be a hindrance to my pursuit of a University degree.

"Director Priyadarshan, who's one of my favorite directors, gave me an opportunity at the right moment. After listening to the story of 'Laysa Laysa', I couldn't refuse the offer. I accepted the role and began acting. Other offers followed. Big banners, good roles made me accept the offers.

I'd accept new assignments only after I've completed those at hand. "Glamour has become a pre-requisite of films. I don't see any harm in accepting glamour roles. I do ensure, however, there's no obscenity involved.

" If I weren't in the cinema world, I'd certainly have been an athlete. I have participated in many events during my school, high-jump, long-jump, basketball. Even during my free hours now, I keep myself engaged, either reading or working on something. "I am an actress now, and I wish to be successful and I'd strive towards my goal whole-heartedly."
