Bark At Us if this is your first visit, or if you have any questions or comments -- we would love to hear from you. And of course, please introduce us to your friends!
Dog Story just got into the San Francisco Independent film fest and will show on January 14th in San Francisco. Visit their site for more details: San Francisco Indie Fest.
Sold out! They were standing in the aisles for Dog Story at the 20th annual Breckenridge International Festival of Film, but those who were able to find a seat joined Jian Hong Kuo, Christopher Hatton and Adam Golomb for the show and Q&A that followed. Our appreciation goes out to everyone who welcomed us back and made it so nice again. Some of you know that Dog Story is from the same litter as Sammyville which also enjoyed a packed house at Breckenridge last year. Also,
congratulations to our Maria "Marty" Cina for her outstanding review in
Variety for her work as "Brook Daniels" in the stage production of "Popcorn"
in Los Angeles. The show runs until October 2nd at the El Portal Center
for the Arts in North Hollywood. Even though star Emmett-the-Dog was received by paparazzi and fans to the music of his own theme song, the pooch of the hour chose to sit on the floor during the Los Angeles premier of Dog Story at The Method Fest. Seated nearby were Maria Cina, Lyle Schwarz, Kevin Cahill, Dick Royes, Paul Wadleigh, Rob Henning, Adam Golomb, Christopher Hatton, Jian Hong Kuo and about 175 other people who filled the house. The Method Fest also provided Dog Story with its first set of “barking rights” in Maria (Marty) Cina’s nomination for the Geraldine Page Award for Best Actress in a Feature Film. This is no small feat considering that the Method Fest is focused on breakout acting performances and ours was the only thriller in the group. Congratulations Maria! Thanks again to Don Franken and Elaine Wood of the Method Fest who put on a thoroughly supportive and classy event. And a most special thanks to Steve, Tina and Brett Berens for bringing Emmett down for the show. You made the night unforgettable. The
next chapter in Dog Story will be written on July 18th at the Long
Island International Film Expo. Check back for more. May 1, 2000 The "Windy City" of Chicago lived up to its reputation on Saturday, April 22 as a raucous crowd of over 200 filled a north side multiplex for a special private screening of Dog Story. Unfortunately, the bad weather left Director/Producer Jian Hong Kuo and Producer Christopher Hatton grounded in Los Angeles, however Adam Golomb and Line Producer Dave Schulz were able to attend the show and the luncheon following. The ages in the audience ranged from 5 to 95 years old and good times were had by all. Much thanks goes out to all who attended. Your support has been "...inspiring." April 9, 2000 Once again, we returned to Eastern Oregon where we shot Dog Story. This time, we had the pleasure of bringing the film back to the people who have made it possible - our actors, crew, sponsors and supporters. On April 5, about 200 people gathered at the Elgin Opera House for this much-anticipated event. Actors in attendance were Lyle Schwarz (Sheriff), Dick Rois (Burlyman), Alice Lentz (Trashy), Kevin Cahill (Psycho). We even had out of town visitors. Patrick Neary (Dir. Of Photography) and Randy Craddock (Thugman) came from Portland, Paul Wadleigh (Old Man) and Mark Kuntz (Laundry Man) came down from Washington! It was good to see old friends and acquaintances again. The screening went without a hitch. Afterwards, punch and cookies accompanied many enthusiastic spirits. Next stop, Chicago. Check back for the details! March 24 , 2000 Lianhe Zaobao, the major Chinese newspaper in Singapore did a story on Dog Story and its director. March 22 , 2000 Dog Story finally met its first audience. And this took place in none other than. . . SINGAPORE! We took the film to Jian's old stomping ground for a couple of private screenings. The event took place on March 15. The venue was The Substation, an art center in downtown Singapore. Adam, Chris and Jian all made it to the other side of the globe. Also present were our Singapore crew - Wei Ling (Script Supervisor) and Guat Teng (Still Photographer). The audience included Singapore Film Commission's chairperson, representative from the Economic Development Board, local filmmakers, reporters, supporters, friends and family. Also present was a television crew from the arts news program Art Beat, which is producing a segment on the film and director. It was exciting for all of us, and we are pleased to say that the responses were very enthusiastic. We would like to thank The Substation and it's staff for giving us the opportunity to share this with everyone. March 4, 2000 The launch of this website marks the beginning of another exciting phase for Dog Story. Final sound mix has just been completed. We saw the film projected for the first time today. Creatively, the film is rapidly racing towards its completion. Now, we begin the challenging process of getting it out there, to festivals, to distributors, to audiences.
