27/11/05- Two years later... it's about damn time I update this site. It's not that I haven't been following Peter's work. It's not that he hasn't exploded on the London theatre scene and been in a couple of very good films.
Updates have been made to the site- new galleries, updates to his filmography and theatre work. There is still lots of work to be done. I'm on it. Thanks for signing the guest book!
28/07/03- Added information about Peter's theatre work.
25/07/03- A few updates on the film page. Conor McPherson has a new film out called "The Actors" starring Michael Cain and Dylan Moran (Black Books!).
31/12/01- Put up a page for Paths to Freedom. A new RTE television series, "Fergus' Wedding" is set to air this year. Look out for some hysterics as Peter is featured as a limo driver.
19/09/01- Go see Peter in the upcoming Dublin Theatre Festival where he will star in Neil Jordan's new play. This short play will be performed with plays by Brian Friel and Conor McPherson (SHOULD BE AMAZING!!!) It is called "Three Short Plays", produced by the Gate Theatre and will run from October 1st to October 13th. If you have the chance to see this, (you lucky people who are in Dublin, you) do let me know what you thought of the production! Also, if you have any stories or reviews concerning Peter McDonald and his work, please pass the along! Cheers, elise:)
25/08/01- Hello! Sorry about the lack of updates... I have been away all summer. Thank you to those who have posted updates on the guestbook! Peter's play, A Lie Of The Mind, is playing at the Donmar Theatre in London (Covent Gardens) until September 1st. I had the chance to see it and must admit I had a fabulous time. The play may be long, but doesn't seem that way thanks to brilliant acting and great directing (not to mention a totally enthralling script). If you have a chance to see it, do go and let me know what you thought.
Peter is also in a new film called "Without News of God", according to an annonymous tip:) Starring Penelope Cruz, the film is set in heaven, earth and hell, in French, Spanish and English respectively. I will start a page on this film (and on A Lie of the Mind) as soon as I can.
Any news, opinions, photos and stories are always welcome! Email me!!!
22/05/01- Added a few pictures to the When Brendan Met Trudy gallery.

Saltwater news: Congratulations to Peter McDonald for winning in the Best Actor category at the Irish Film&Television Acadamy Awards December 3rd in Belfast. He beat Ewan McGregor (his co-star in Nora) and Robert Carlyle (nominated for Angela's Ashes. But will always be Begbie in our hearts.) Conor McPherson also won for his screenplay. Conor McPherson is amazing. A link to the BBC's coverage is on the Saltwater pageTHANKS TO LIZ AND PADDY for all your help!!!
11/11/00- The Rat has nothing to do with our Peter, but it does look like a pretty interesting film starring our other favourite Pete: Postlethwaite. Thanks for all those who figured this out for me. No thanks to Gerry for messing with my head. In real news, I've learned that When Brendan Met Trudy premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September. Peter plays Brendan in this Roddy Doyle-Kieron Walsh film. It looks to be wonderful. If any of you see it, let me know what you think! I've added two pictures in the gallery (thank you Bryan). *Please let me know if you have any news on Peter, if you'd like to send me reviews, clippings, pictures etc, write to me and you could win a super prize!
18/10/00- Heard something about a new film called "the Rat". I suspect it may be just another name for "Saltwater", but please email me if you have any info.
Howdy to Barly and Jimmy.
10/10/00- Wow, it's so nice to be getting responses in the guestbook.
07/10/00- Just found an old interview on the net. Link through the links page.
27/09/00- Stumbled upon Kings in Grass Castles that aired on CBC a couple of weeks ago. The film seemed a little slow and perhaps a little cliched... but I didn`t see the whole movie, so I couldn't say. We were actually about the shut it off when Peter apeared on the tele... and he had a little cap on and was a very good Irish games keeper. But I'm glad he's gone onto bigger and better things.
And thank you to whoever signed my guestbook! It`s really nice to get messages... keep them coming!
12/09/00- Nora screened at the Montreal Film Festival. Finally got to see it. Very nice film. Peter McDonald played Stanni with depth and charm. Nice-looking pair, those Joyce brothers... Adorable scene with a toy horse and a dinner plate. My mini review at the bottom of the reviews page.
26/08/00- Found out about many more Saltwater castmembers and the roles they play. Added a synopsis/mini-review. Irish release date: September 15, 2000. PLUS fixed up the Opportunists picture in the gallery and added quotes about Peter in that film. A new link on the Opportunists page.
18/08/00- Just got home from travelling around Ireland where I found out that Saltwater played at the Film Feadh in Galway in July and that Conor McPherson actually adapted his own play, "This Bower Tree" in writing the screenplay. Starting in September, I will be away at school, so the updates may be slow as I will be a little more out of touch than usual. If you have any news at all, or just to say hello, please drop me a note at my new email address: pmwebsite@hotmail.com
02/07/00- Blurb about The Opportunists in Premiere Magazine's July edition. Also, news of a new project, Saltwater, written and directed by Conor McPherson (!!!!) and co-starring Brendan Gleeson, due out this year.
15/05/00- Added a PICTURE GALLERY!!! If you have any photos to add, please let me know!
14/05/00- Added a small section on Nora that will hopefully be growing throughtout the next few weeks.
08/05/00- Just found out Peter is in Nora, a film based on James Joyce's life and love. Why I hadn't heard he was in it before now is crazy, but I will add a section devoted to this film as soon as possible. Peter McDonald and Ewan McGregor (as Joyce) on the same screen is bound to be thrilling:)
28/04/00- A few links added.
04/03/00- I Went Down is playing on Thursday, March 9th at 11:15 EST on TMN.
01/03/00- A new picture on the Opportunists page. Another quote about Peter on the Quotes page.
01/02/00- Sad news. Tony Doyle, who starred as Tom French in I Went Down, died Friday at the age of 58. He played Brian Quigley in the hit show Ballykissangel and many other British and Irish television shows and films. He is remembered as "never less than competent and usually magnificent"(Niall Toibin). Mr. Doyle is survived by his wife, their three children and three children by a previous marriage. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
05/01/00- Very exciting news to be confirmed soon! Something to do with Peter, Roddy Doyle(!), and a new film. Very unofficial.

26/10/99- Felicia's Journey opens in Canada November 27th. An advance screening/fundraiser will be held in Toronto. Tickets are 35$.
21/06/99- Captain Jack is in theatres in the UK!
23/05/99- Unfortunately, Felicia's Journey director, Atom Egoyan, does not come home with a Palme D'Or this year... Congratulations to the winners, Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne (Rosetta, Palme D'Or) and Bruno Dumont (L'humanité, Grand Jury Prize)!
18/05/99- Felicia's Journey was received with standing ovations last night at Cannes.
