November 7, 2005. The movie that Eric was just filming with Anne Heche in Nova Scotia will be called Deceptively Yours and is expected to air early next year on Lifetime. It is based on the best-selling true crime book Fatal Error about a Michigan woman who over the Internet convinced her lover to kill her husband. It's the story of a man who loved a woman so much he would kill for her. In 1999 police found the husband, Bruce Miller, shot to death at his business. Authorities believed Mrs. Miller used the Internet to drive a love-struck ex-cop, Jerry Cassaday, from Missouri to Michigan to murder him.

August 19, 2005. I'm sorry that I haven't been updating as often as some people would like but sometimes I just don't have anything unofficial to report. A recent story in the NY Post starts out "MOST artists slave for a lifetime to get in a museum show, but all David Schwimmer, Tiffany, Eric Roberts and Virginia Madsen had to do was press their paint-covered hands against some canvas." Let's get this straight, Eric and lots of other stars, spend lots of time every year doing stuff for charity. UCLA asked a bunch of stars to paint something to be auctioned off to benifit the Pediatric Epilepsy Project. Some really talented painters, like Kevin Kline, sent in real art but some celebrities don't happen to be talented painters. They contributed to the cause anyway. Hey, NY Post, this is for charity! All the paintings, not just the good ones, have been on display at the Art for a Cause exhibit at the Paterson Museum in New Jersey. Greeting cards of the paintings, including Eric's, are for sale online at the kidsart web site.
Eric stars in a movie called Grave's End that made a big splash at the Chicago Horror Film Festival in April and is now making the film festival rounds. I hope it plays where more of us will get to see it.
Bryan Michal Stoller, director of Miss Castaway, has cast Eric as Dr. Howard Melvin in yet another fantasy film called Light Years Away which is scheduled for release on 12 Jan. 2006. It will also star Meadow Williams. The movie may be for TV or direct to DVD.
Eric is apparently also in a movie based on the video game DOA: Dead or Alive. The movie centers on four well-endowed female fighters wearing hardly any clothes in a competition to the death on an exotic island. The script is being written by J.F. Lawton, best known for his work on Pretty Woman. Hollywood is a small world, isn't it?
July 22, 2005. According to the Internet Movie Database, Eric was recently cast in the movie Princess. It is a thriller about an about an American high school cheerleader who finds herself targeted for assassination when it is discovered that she's heir to the throne of Samarza, a fictional Middle Eastern country. At a pre-preduction party, the director did not confirm casting either Eric, as the Dad, or Sheetal Sheth as the Princess. See the report at DesiChutney.
June 10, 2005. On Monday I got home from BookExpoAmerica at the Javits Center in NYC where I met many authors and several celebrities who have recently written books. The one celebrity that I would like to say something about is actor Chris Elliot who was there signing his book The Shroud of the Thwacker. I have never been a Chris Elliot fan but he turned out to be absolutely gracious to every single person who wanted to meet him, smiled for hundreds of photos and was tireless signing autographs. Yes, Mr. Elliot was there to promote his book but so were many other authors and you can take my word for it that some of them were not all that warm and cuddly. It was hot in the Javits Center; big crowds, long lines and everybody was tired. Chris Elliot made every fan go away feeling good. So now you're asking what does this have to do with Eric Roberts? Well, Chuck Oberleitner has something very similar to say about Eric in his article about ABC Primetime Preview Weekend.

May 4, 2005. Eric will be a guest star on CSI: Miami on the next to last episode of this season 23:Whacked. This episode should air on May 16. The plot is that the CSIs let a killer get away five years ago and now they must race the clock to find him before he kills again. I don't know yet which character Eric is going to play. Besides the series regulars, there are four males in the story: Alan Kramer, a convicted murderer; Don Haffman, the assistant district attorney; Mike Lewis, the murder victim; and the mystery man. Let's weigh the pros and cons: Eric is always great as a murderer; he looks good in a suit so he could be the district attorney; but the best role is the murder victim because, on CSI Miami, they usually kill someone really early in the show and then they lie in the morgue practically naked for the rest of the show.

February 3, 2005. Elma sent me to MTV to see Eric in the Mr. Brightside music video by The Killers. If you have a Windows computer, you should be able to play the video. Can't make it work on a Mac but Elma reports that it was filmed in an actual bordello in Nevada and, she says "Eric is as incredibly handsome and suave as ever."
