Lara was born on January 9th, 1971 in Belgium. She has an Italian mother and a Belgian father. Lara speaks many languages: French, Italian, English and Spanish, and she now lives in Quebec and is a Canadian citizen. Lara co-writes most of her songs, and she was an executive producer on Pure. In 1988, Lara entered the Eurovision Song Contest for Luxembourg, singing the song Croire, which became a big hit in French speaking Europe. In the contest however, she came fourth. Since then however, Lara's style has changed a lot and become much more mature. She has developed her sound to mix ballads with gospel and pop-rock.
Lara has worked since her debut album with her friend, co-writer, producer and manager, Rick Allison. At one time they were dating. Lara then dated Patrick Fiori, but apparently they have broken up too.
In 1999, Lara performed in Monte Carlo for the Royal Family when she won the award for Best Selling Benelux Artist. (Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg). She has also won many awards across Europe and Canada.
Lara has just released her first English language album, with many of the worlds best writers and producers including Walter Afanasieff, Pat Leonard, and of course, Rick Allison. The first single, Adagio has just been released in France, Belgium, and Switzerland. In the rest of the world, the first single, which will probably not be Adagio will be released in early 2000, with the album expected in about March. There is also an Italian version of Adagio, which will help Lara gain popularity in Italy, and other Italian speaking countries.
