I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER

After hearing Brandy Norwood (from Moeisha) winning a prize for wrongly guessing Rio de Janeiro as the capitol of Brazil, I'm sincerely hoping the sequel to this movie will be "I Forgot What You Did Last Summer". Brandy's blunder could mean one of two things: (1) the knuckleheaded scriptwriter has forgotten to consult an atlas, or (2) the game show is obviously a sham. In either case, it's not exactly a good sign for this film. When the homicial, handicapped fisherman from "I Know What You Did Last Summer" stalks Jennifer Love Hewitt again, Freddie Prinze Jr. embarks on a madcap adventure to rescue her, and it really gets over-the-top once he hijacks a boat to the Carribean. Eventually, some gruesome scenes appear to remind us that this movie is a horror film, albeit an addle-brained one. Compared to its predecessor, "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" is gorier but also much sillier. Unfortunately, it isn't the same brand of silliness that helps horror flicks like "Night of the Demons 2", but rather it's the unintentional kind that detracts from an otherwise serious movie (that is, if you can take Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brandy seriously). Usually the unintentional silliness is found in low-budget films which can't afford established actors and state-of-the-art special effects, but this movie has been made on a budget of $24 million! Overall, it is a somewhat below average offering within the horror genre and a waste of good production values.
