BWCA Cost

I've put together a breakdown of the total group cost for this trip by item, then in a following table I've broken it down by person.

A couple of things to keep in mind: This list does not cover gas or food on the trip up, nor does it cover incidentals like fishing licenses, maps, tax or personal spending money. Another cost that is not listed is the price of third-seat cushions for those folks that ride in the middle of the canoes. I was told we could either rent those, or purchase those (We'll need two).

Group Costs:

Item

Cost

Camping Fee (per trip)

$80.00

BWCAW Permit fee

$12.00

Bunk House (outfitter supplied)

$288.00

Kevlar Canoe Rental

$136.00

Food

$128.00

Total for the Group:

$644.00

Individual Shares of Group Costs:

Camping Fee (per trip)

$10.00

BWCAW Permit fee

$1.50

Bunk House (outfitter supplied)

$36.00

Kevlar Canoe Rental

$17.00

Food

$16.00

Total Individual Share:

$80.50

As you can see, thus far the group share per person is well under $100.00. At one point I attempted to predict the cost of gas at approximately $2.00 per gallon, but since then, gas prices have dropped dramatically. Therefore, I will not predict the price of gas and the share each individual will have to pay for that. One other group expense not mentioned are maps of the area. Guess we'll just have to see what they cost. My suggestion is that each person budget approximately $110.00 to $120.00 total for their share of group expenses. As mentioned earlier, fishing licenses and tackle are now being considered an individual expense, but that doesn't mean people can't team up to buy one or two on their own.
