I'm working on a whole batch of new updates, but I've got some brief news to begin with. Scott has a bunch of new projects due out this year, and I've updated the filmography page with details of those.

The other news is that Saturn has finally been released on DVD, but with the new title of Speed of Life. It's available on Amazon etc. to buy, so make sure you get your copy!

If anyone spots any articles about Scott or any television appearances, please do let me know and I can add the details to the site.

Starting the first of this year's updates with news of two new film projects for Scott. Firstly, he is currently working on 'Sonny', the directorial debut of Nicolas Cage. Speaking of directorial debuts, according to the newswires, Scott will be making his film directorial debut with 'Dallas and Rusty'. Here is what the piece said:

Scott Caan is building momentum as an actor with such films as "Ocean's Eleven," "Novocaine" and "Varsity Blues," but inside the strapping actor is the heart of a writer-director.

After writing and directing performances of "911" and "Almost Love" at Playhouse West, Caan has the chance to make his feature directing debut. He's in pre-production on "Dallas and Rusty," a drama he wrote that will be financed by KBK. He'll star with Shawn Hatosy, Marley Shelton, Selma Blair, Isla Fisher and Val Lauren in a drama about a young man at a crossroads.

"It's the story of two kids growing up in a city," Caan said. "They are getting into trouble, and when one of them decides to turn his life around and go straight, the other guy can't change and complicates his plan." Caan plays the unrepentent pal while Hatosy plays the one trying to make a change in his life.

If anyone spots any articles about Scott or any television appearances, please do let me know and I can add the details to the site.

Just a quick update to tell you the news about Scott's latest project. According to Variety, Scott has taken a role in "Wanna-Be", which will be the directorial debut of Fred Durst, the frontman of Limp Bizkit. Here is the article in full:

Walker, Durst enter fast lane for ``Wanna-Be''
By Michael Fleming

NEW YORK (Variety) - ``The Fast and the Furious'' star Paul Walker is negotiating to star with Scott Caan in ``Wanna-Be,'' a drama that could mark the feature directing debut of Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.

While Walker's negotiations aren't complete, his first post-``Furious'' payday for the picture is expected to be upward of $2 million. The independently financed film is budgeted at $30 million.

Based on a New York magazine article by the late Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper columnist Mike McAlary, the fictionalized ``Wanna-Be'' will show how the children of mobsters are defying the wishes of their parents by following in their bloody footsteps, and observing none of the mob's protocols.

The project has long been considered a plum picture, with Leonardo DiCaprio once attached, before he covered similar terrain in the upcoming ``Gangs of New York.''

Walker is in talks to play Alley Boy, an abandoned child who eventually gets sucked into the mob with friend Botz (Caan), whose family is involved in the violent biz.

Durst, who directed numerous music videos in preparation for his feature debut, has been loosely tied to the project along with several others, including the $10 million drama ``Runt,'' an indie that had looked to be his first effort. Now, it seems he will get his feet wet with ``Wanna-Be,'' which is targeting an October start date.

Music video alumnus David Fincher, who has been mentoring Durst's directorial aspirations, is in early talks to come aboard in some capacity, as would be the case with ``Runt.''

In light of the subject matter and the project's aspirations to have a ``Godfather''-like sweep, it's intriguing that Caan will play the overzealous mobster, given his father James' memorable work as the hot-tempered Sonny Corleone.

Sounds like interesting stuff, right? This is definitely something to keep an eye on, and it'll be great to see the re-teaming of Scott with his 'Varsity Blues' co-star Paul Walker on the big screen.

A big thanks to those who e-mailed me with the news.

June 24th 2001

I am finally updating this site after months, I again have to apologise for not updating frequently, I really am starting to sound like a broken record!

First off, I have to give a huge thanks to Natalie, the "Scoop Queen", for providing me with with lots of information for the site, I am very grateful!

After all the switching around of release dates with 'American Outlaws' versus 'Texas Rangers', it looks like 'American Outlaws' will be the only western out this year. After placing TR two weeks before the release of AO, seemingly making Warner Bros move AO back to August 17th, TR was then pulled from that release date. So it looks like now that AO will be released on August 17th. (All information taken from upcomingmovies.com)

I have added quite a few pictures to the site. If you go to the Miscellaneous pictures page, there is a new picture of Scott attending the premiere of 'Swordfish'. Two humourous promotion pictures from 'Ready to Rumble' can be found on the films pictures page, and I have added lots of pictures to the American Outlaws pictures page. Some of these are taken from the official site, there are lots more pictures to be found there. I won't be adding them all to this site, so if you would like to take a look at them, just follow the link.

One of Scott's older films, 'Bongwater' is finally getting a retail release. It will be released July 31st on DVD, so those of you with a player may want to check that one out.

If anyone has any news or information about Scott's upcoming film releases, please feel free to e-mail me.

February 18th 2001

Apologies for no updates for a very long while, it just seems that there aren't enough hours in the day sometimes. So I am very sorry for all those who check back from time to time, but let me get on with the update.

The first big news that broke some time ago is that Scott has been cast in the upcoming sort-of remake of 'Ocean's Eleven'. Here is the information from the news wires - LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Casey Affleck and Scott Caan will star as siblings in the all-star cast of director Steven Soderbergh's "Ocean's Eleven," a remake of the 1960s Rat Pack feature for Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures. The project is scheduled to shoot in Los Angeles and Las Vegas starting next year.
George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and Alan Arkin will star in the story of an ex-con, Danny (Clooney), who gathers up his old crew to pull off a robbery in three Las Vegas casinos simultaneously during a much-anticipated boxing match. Affleck and Caan will play two Mormon brothers who are enlisted as the drivers for Danny's heist. Warners-based Jerry Weintraub is producing the project.
Affleck, repped by CAA, most recently starred in "Drowning Mona" and the Miramax features "Hamlet" and "Committed." He next stars in Artisan Entertainment's "Soul Survivors" with Wes Bentley and Eliza Dushku.
Caan, repped by United Talent Agency, most recently starred in "Gone in Sixty Seconds" and "Ready to Rumble." His upcoming projects include roles in Artisan Entertainment's "Novocaine," with Steve Martin, and Warner Bros./Morgan Creek Prods.' "American Outlaws," with Colin Farrell.

This film, needing no explanation, is red-hot with anticipation, not only for the stellar cast but also for the now Oscar record-nomination-breaking director, Steven Soderbergh. This is definitely one to keep an eye on, as if you didn't know already!

Some interesting news on the 'American Outlaws' front. The film was originally scheduled for release on May 18th in the US. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Dimension Films decided to place their own western production, 'Texas Rangers' two weeks in front of 'American Outlaws'. Now, I don't know about you, but that doesn't seem quite fair and just, does it? So, Warner Bros did the only right thing and have now bumped the release date for 'American Outlaws' up a month to April 11th!

The official site for 'American Outlaws' is now fully up and running, and now contains a brief trailer. The film really looks like a fun western and looking at the trailer, has some great action sequences too. You can find the link to the site here. In the January issue of Premiere magazine, there was an article about the film, it mostly contains an interview with Colin Farrell, but there are also some words from Scott too, so I have added this to the Articles page. Contained with the article was a picture, which you can find on the American Outlaws pictures page.

The final piece of news is that the release date for 'Novocaine' has been pushed back to September 14th, which is quite a long way away from it's original release date, which is a shame.

A huge thanks to Natalie, "Scoop Queen", for helping me out and providing me with so much info!
