To those depicited in the photos below... please excuse me on my
choice of pictures. There were literally a thousand pictures in my
family photo albums. I picked most of them out from my '98 vacation
to Singapore and Malaysia.
Rather than sift through all of them, I picked out three or four
and chose a few pictures that caught my eye. Don't send me hate mail
or blackmail me to change them...

Where do I live???
Where is this? It's looking at my front door from the atrium. I
think it looks nice from there on a sunny day. You have to excuse the
unkept appearance-- my mom has this tendency to keep everything when
she doesn't expect people but when company arrives, she throws all the
stuff into a closet. (I've lost many a baseball cap that way...)
To the right is what my house looks like from the outside. We didn't have
the panoramic camera then, (I'll take a better picture) so you can't see the
whole house. One more car than expected in the driveway-- our friends from
NYC came over to visit during Easter weekend 1998 and that's their Buick.
(They're the guys who let me crash over at their place when I go watch US
Open tennis back in '99...)
Celebrating my late grandmother's
birthday, many of my dad's side of the family flew from overseas. We're
at my aunt's house (I have three paternal aunts living in Windsor!) that
day. Man, it was HOT in there. Think about it: about 40 people in one
confined area-- I was getting a little scared for a second. The whole
male Soong contingency located in one place!
Here is a bunch of my family outside of my
aunt's house in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. (That was host to the Commonwealth
Games in 1998 to all you trivia buffs out there.) It was sometime in the
early morning and the mercury was already well past 25 Celsius...
Again, more pictures of
my Malaysia 1998 trip-- my cousins taking me clubbing to one of the more
posh places in KL. This was during the 'crash' of the Asian economies yet
there were tons of people still partying it up and spending muchos dollaros
at the club. Who would pay $15 for cover in a third-world country? Bad
times? I think the crisis only affected those who were poor... my family
overseas are comfortable but not rolling in the cash and they weren't hit
hard by it.

A picture of my parents all decked up in
clothing circa Biblical times. We're on our vacation / pilgrimage to
Israel to visit the Holy Land. One of the sightseeing things we did was
visit a place to 'relive' the things that the people of Israel did during
the time of Jesus. What's up with the parents wearing sunglasses? Are
they trying to be Chinese mafia or something?
More shots of the family-- I'm in Singapore
after some fine dining at a dinner/show. There was a troupe from the
Ukraine in town. There was a semi-nude show on that day. You could tell
the women were dancers-- talk about monster quads and calves...
I don't know how my cousin Melissa (r) convinced me to put on
a temporary tatoo (after just taking a shower, no less!) My cousin on the
left, Ai Vee, also conned me into doing it. Vee (for short) finished up
school recently and toured Europe after graduating to become a dietician.
Wonder if she'll send / scan me some pictures...

Extended family
How can I forget to acknowledge the ones who have "protected" my house over
the years? The picture on the left was my first dog, Caesar. A little on the
overweight side, the original brown guy overlooking the house from his
favourite vantage point on the stairs. He was pretty dumb but he listened to
us always.
Caesar (1987-1994)
Rex (1994-2003)
Our second watchdog was Rex. Following the Roman nomenclature, we
named him so (because his original name, Toffie, sounded lame!) Unlike
Caesar, this guy has a mind of his own and is very naughty. He looks
innocent but he's guilty all the time. (Sound like anyone you know?)
Sadly, Rex was suddenly taken away from us. His greed got the better of
him -- tried to swallow a piece of meat too large for him. Poor fella.
We'll miss you.
Man Tou (2003-present)
It got so quiet around the house with no dog around. My folks found a
local pomeranian breeder with a new litter of pups for sale. My folks put a
deposit on one ... but when the litter was finished weaning ... the breeder
forgot which one my parents picked out. We ended up with this one ... we
went with the name 'Man Tou' (steamed bread bun in Mandarin). He is quite in
line with the other dogs we had ... very strong-willed and opinionated. And
isn't 100% obedient, either. Have to say, he's got a terrible bark but has
recently learned to chase flies. Still hasn't mastered going out to do his
business ... but using paper is fine with me!
