Micky and Chea found their room on the Titanic. Somehow the same magic that gave them era appropriate clothing had also managed to give them great second class accommodations. Well, it did when a man and a woman they encountered on the way to the ticket office had an argument and tossed the tickets their way and left.
"Very strange." Micky said quickly taking the tickets from the ground before anyone had a chance to monopolize on the situation.
"Yes." Chea said. "But somehow this runs in our favor." They mocked the high faluting way everyone seemed to talk around them.
"Looks like we get to be Jack and Diane after all." Micky said as they got in line.
"Jack and ROSE." Chea said. "Jack and Diane is a song."
Micky smiled at Chea as they got on board. The tickets were for a small second class suite, which was fine with Chea. She had thought they would end up in "Steerage". She got wicked claustrophobia. They soon found that our after the ship left port. Micky and Chea went out and walked the decks, enjoying the scenery. Meanwhile there were two like-minded people looking for them.
1967
Brianna stormed out the door and walked down the street before she stopped cold. She had no idea where she was. This was a part of town she wasn’t familiar with, 1967 or no. She sighed as it started to rain around her. It was light rain and it slightly kissed her hair as the wind blew the shorter strands of her hair around her face. Brianna froze when she heard footsteps fall behind her. She started breathing slower. Brianna had been almost mugged once, so she had almost a sixth sense about who might be behind her. She thought for about two seconds, then spun on her heel and did a "hyah!" stance. She stumbled while she did so. Brianna knew she looked like a rejected Charlies Angel just then but she didnt care.
"What?" She asked in the middle of her movement. It was Karen again. "Did he send you?" She asked.
"No." Karen said. "You really are a newcomer to the Monkee universe. If you were even a semi watcher like me, you would know about Davy."
"What do you mean?"
"Davy has never had a single girlfriend on the show." Karen said.
"Right, they were all probably married." She spat.
"No, no nothing like that." Karen said. "There is this thing, Davy seemingly fell in love with another girl every week. It was sort of a shtick. A lousy one I can tell ya but it was what he had. He never had a long lasting girlfriend on the show. Some of them never even lasted an episode. Davy is very very flirty, and he was like this before you came. Heck he even tried me and Chea. It didn't work. But what I'm saying is that they way I see him act around you is like nothing I have ever seen before." Karen said as Brianna softened before her eyes. But she still had a glare on her face. "I get the feeling that it wasn’t just Davy that drove you out here right?"
Brianna started to try to say something that was the opposite that was thinking, but nothing would come to her. She sighed and wiped some rain off her fave, even though she knew it would be wet again soon. "Greg was just like Davy. A heavy flirter even when we were together. I was gonna end it with him before cause he was making the rounds so to speak with the female hospital staff. What made me angry at Davy was that as soon as I decided that I liked him, and wanted to give it a college try, he was waving at a girl at a bar. Greg did that a LOT but always called her a cousin. He had a heck of a lot of cousins." Brianna laughed. "Even the ones that didn’t look like him." Karen nodded with a smile on her face. "Maybe I just took all my anger at Greg on the wrong person. I think I did know about how Davy is but I just didn't believe it till it actually happened tonight."
"Why don't we go back in?" Karen suggested. "I thought this was gonna be a little love shower, but its coming down harder."
"Good plan." Brianna said. "Besides I think I owe a certain British guy another chance." She smiled.
"Great." Karen said.
"I wonder how open he would be to a date now that I acted like a witch with a b." She asked.
"I guess we'll find out." Karen said as they entered the room. They guys were playing an extra set it seemed. Karen recognized the song. The song seemed to start when they came in. Davy was singing lead. As he sang Brianna knew she was pointedly looking at her.
Walk out,
Girl don't you walk out
We've got things to say
Talked out, let's have it talked out
Things will be okay
Girl
I don't want to find
That I'm a little bit wrong
And you're a little bit right
I said girl
You know that it's true
It's a little bit me, (a little bit me)
And it's a little bit you... too
Don't know... just what I said wrong
But girl I apologize
Don't go... here's where you belong
So wipe the tears from your eyes
Girl
I don't want to find
That I'm a little bit wrong
And you're a little bit right
I said girl
You know that it's true
It's a little bit me
And it's a little bit you... too
Oh girl
I don't want to find
I'm a little bit wrong
And you're a little bit right
I said girl
You know that it's true
It's a little bit me
And it's a little bit you... to
It's a little bit me
It's a little bit you
Girl don't go
no no no no no
Girl don't go
no no no no no
Hey girl
Brianna applauded as he got off the stage.
"How'd you like that luv?" He asked.
"I liked it a lot." Brianna said as they band started to pack up. "About the girl..."
"What girl?" Davy asked with a serious look on his face. "She's forgettable. Nothing, but probably the catch of the day to someone that cares." Davy said. "But I don't care. I don't want a forgettable woman, who I won't even acknowledge on the street a week later. I want an unforgettable woman." He said with a hand on her chin. "I want YOU."
He leaned in for a kiss, Brianna felt like she was gonna die and go to heaven. Then he stopped and looked to the left. The three looked at him, Karen and Mike and Peter.
"It's so cute!" Karen tried to keep from giggling.
"I know, you just want to take picture of it and put it in a frame." Mike mused.
"Do you folks mind?" Davy said a little bit irritated now. "You're spoiling the mood."
"Awwwww." Peter said. "Ok. We'll see you in the car."
They left. Davy looked back at Brianna. "Now where were we."
"Right about here." Brianna said and kissed him on the lips. She stunned him as well as herself. It lasted about 30 seconds. He pulled back.
"That’s all well and good but couldn’t we have done that an hour ago?" He joked.
"Oh you."
Titanic
Micky and Chea had done the impossible. They had managed to get lost on the Titanic. The duo were heading back to their room when they took a wrong turn around deck b or something.
"Ok." Micky said. They had reached the bottom of a long flight of wooden stairs. Sort of a back service entry. "Where are we now? And where the heck is our suite?"
"Uhhhh," Chea said affecting a dumb girl voice. "It went thataway." She said pointing in both directions. She then paused to adjust her outfit. "With this outfit I'm starting to miss the 60's."
"I know. It is the right outfit right?" Mickey asked.
They found a large full length mirror. Just then they realized why everyone was looking weird at them. They were clothed in 1920's gangster era clothes. Micky wore a suit that looked familiar, it was what he wore in the ghost town episode, while she wore a mollish outfit that left little to the imagination. Even less for comfort.
"We gotta change." Chea said They opened random trunks before they found some clothes that looked like they would fit. Chea sincerely hoped they wouldn’t mind. After all, it would all end up on the ocean floor in the matter of hours anyway.
"Why do I gotta change?" Micky said making a "scary" pose in the mirror. "I'm the big man!" He said affecting his best Cagney.
"What does that make me, the little woman?" Chea asked from behind a changing place. She emerged in a light blue and white flowy dress, much like the one Rose wore.
"Whoah." Mickey exhaled.
"Thanks." Chea said. "I think we have approval here."
Micky ducked into the same spot and threw on what looked like a casual tuxedo compared to the people in first class. He left the coat off, a move he would should regret.
"Hey lets look around." Micky offered. "It's not very often we get to poke around rich peoples stuff."
"Okay." Chea said.
They ran around opening trunks and looking through stuff. Micky came across the sight of a very large bra.
"Oh my god." He exclaimed showing his find to Chea. "With this you can stop the boat from sinking."
She laughed as she found an old record player. It was a victrola, the type that required a lot of cranking. She gave it a few tries and stopped it when some music began creaking out of it. Micky approached her and bowed like a proper gentleman.
"Care to dance?" Mickey asked offering his arm.
"I dunno, my dance card is awfully full." She said playing hard to get.
"Who else is on your list but me?"
"Good point?" She said and they twirled ballerina-like around the cargo hold. They stopped when the music did, and when they came across a car.
"Cool car." Micky said. "Mike would go ga-ga if he saw this."
"Mike going ga-ga. THAT I would pay to see." Chea said as he started to get inside. She coughed heavily.
"Oh yeah, ladies first." Micky said as he opened the door for her. He helped her in. He closed the door and hopped in the front seat. He honked the horn. Chea shook her head. "Major de ja vu." She thought.
"Where to ma'am?" Micky asked.
Now she remembered what part of the movie this was from. She bit her lip. They hadn’t even been that far yet, and they have been a couple for virtually three months. Hell, why not?
"To the stars." She said quoting Rose perfectly. She hauled him into the backseat. He was surprised at her sudden burst of energy. As he righted himself in the seat she kissed him on the lips. He kissed back. He pulled back and paused. Though he had only seen the movie once, he knew what was happening.
"Are you sure?" He asked her.
She laced her fingers with her. His fingers somehow became indistinguishable from her own. "Yes." She breathed. They kissed, for much longer now, and slowly sank to the floor of the car.
1967
Mike and Karen sat on the deck of her house.
"What do you think Micky and Chea are doing right now?" He asked as they star gazed.
"One can only imagine." Karen said.
