This is a schizophrenic film that will have you wondering where it will take you. Not having any solid premise whether it's a comedy, romantic drama, fantasy or horror, the whole plot of two witch sisters with their vastly different methods of finding love is completely lost on the audience. Take heart, then, in its gorgeous colour, the charming house where the sisters reside, its magical garden as well as Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman who have never looked better. Sadly, the pair has certainly acted in better films. So have Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing, two incredible talents who keep the movie afloat, but just barely. Honestly, there is nothing magical to be found, except for perhaps the well-tended garden. And the practical part? Try baking instead. - Brian Cheong [So-so]
