Under A Blood Red Sky
Gloria (4:44)
Originally released in  October
   - An excellent live version of the song.  Something kinda sad to note is the way Bono introduces the band.  First he introduces Adam, to which a couple people cheer for a second or two.  Then he introduces The Edge and the crowd goes wild!  Imagine how Adam felt!  Or even worse, how Larry felt.  He didn't even get an introduction.  Ouch.  Great song still.

(This is Gloria)

(Two three four!)

When I try to sing this song
I...I try to stand up
But I can't find my feet
I try, I try to speak up
But only in you I'm complete

Gloria...in te domine
Gloria...exultate
Gloria...Gloria
Oh Lord, loosen my lips
(Loosen 'em!)

When I try to sing this song
I...I try to get in
But I can't find the door
The door is open
You're standing there
You let me in

Gloria...in te domine
Gloria...exultate
Oh Lord, if I had anything
Anything at all
I'd give it to you
I'd give it to you
You you
Give it to you

(Hey, this is Red Rocks)
(Adam Clayton)
(This is The Edge)

Gloria...in te domine
Gloria...Gloria...
Gloria...in te domine
Gloria...Gloria...
Gloria...in te domine
Gloria...Gloria...
Gloria...in te domine
Gloria...Gloria...

11 O'Clock Tick Tock (4:43)
Originally released in the "11 O'Clock Tick Tock" single
     - My favourite song on the album.  It actually has two melodies, the first one being the coolest in my opinion.  It matches the title of the song and has a clock ticking like sound to it.  The second melody (Call out your name...) is far more mellow and melancholy sounding.  Unfortunately, I can't even begin to tell you what this song is about.  It seems the verses are nonsensical.  I still love this song though.

It's cold outside
It gets so hot in here
And the boys and girls collide
To The music in my ear

Hear the children crying
And I know it's time to go
I hear the children crying
Take me home

A painted face
And I know we haven't long
We thought that we had the answers
It was the questions we had wrong

Hear the children crying
And I know it's time to go
I hear the children crying
Take me home

Say so, say so
Say so, say so

La lah la lah...La lah la lah...La lah lah...
La la la la la lah...La lah la lah...La lah lah...
La lah la lah...La lah la lah...La lah lah...
La la la la la lah...La lah la lah...La lah lah...

Say so, say so
Say so, say so

Call out your name
Call out in shame
Call out your name
Call out
You better call out
Call, call, call out

I Will Follow (3:42)
Originally released in Boy
   - It really impresses me that U2 remembers where they came from and even in the Elevation Tour sang this song!  Bands like the Newsboys never mention their earlier albums, even if there were hits on them.  U2's not ashamed of their early works, which is cool.  And just like the version from Boy, the bridge is really cool (Your eyes make a circle...), which is excellent because I think it's the best part of the song.

(Ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you...I will follow!)

I was on the outside when you say
You say you needed me
I was looking at myself
I was blind, could not see

A boy tries hard to be a man
His mother takes him by his hand
He stops to think he starts to cry
Oh why

If you walkaway, walkaway
I walkaway, walkaway...I will follow

If you walkaway, walkaway
I walkaway, walkaway...I will...follow

I was on the inside
When they pulled the four walls down
I was looking through the window
I was lost, I am found

Walkaway, walkaway
Walkaway, walkaway...I will follow
If you walkaway, walkaway,
I walkaway, walkaway...I will...follow

Your eyes make a circle
I see you when I go in there
But it's your eyes
But it's your eyes
But it's your eyes
Your eyes

If you walkaway, walkaway
I walkaway, walkaway..I will follow

If you walkaway, walkaway
I walkaway, walkaway...I will follow

I will follow
I will...follow
I will follow
I will...I will
I will...I will

Party Girl (3:21)
Originally released in the "A Celebration" single
     - This song is a live version of "Trash, Trampoline, and the Party Girl" which you'll find on The Best of 1980 - 1990 B-Sides.  The two songs are quite different from each other, but the original was never released until The Best Of.  This live version is the better in my opinion with Bono's singing very crisp and clear, something some bands have problems with when playing live.  The song's about a guy at a party with two guys, known as Trash and Trampoline, and a girl known as Party Girl, who only come to these parties to have anonymous sex.  An unusual phrase is said by Bono during the guitar solo.  It sounds like "Guitar Hero!", and all the lyrical sites seem to agree with this.  But that doesn't make any sense, does it?

I know a girl, a girl called Party
Party girl
I know she wants more than a party
Party girl
And she won't tell me her name
Oh no, not me

I know a boy, a boy called Trash
Trash Can
I know he does all that he can
Wham Bam
And she won't tell me his name
Oh no, not me

(Guitar hero?)

When I was three, I thought the world revolved around me
I was wrong
And so I sing along
And if you dance, then dance with me

I know a girl, a girl called Party
Party girl
I know she wants more than a party
Party girl
I know a boy, a boy called Trampoline
You know what I mean

I think I know what he wants
I think I know what he wants
I think I know what you want
I think I know what you want
I think I know what you want
I think I know what you want
I think I know what he wants

Sunday Bloody Sunday (5:26)
Originally released in War
   - This live version isn't as good as the original in my opinion, but that's only because I really like the electric violin.  Instead, The Edge plays the piece with his guitar.  Still good, but I'm picky.  The music video is interesting though.  Bono is already demonstrating his crowd pleasing antics, by passing a flag to the front of the crowd.  Naturally, the people start swinging it in time to the beat, which seems to annoy Bono.  He grabs it and holds it still, clearly having to fight the strength of the crowd.  At the false end of the song, he bows as if to touch his toes, and as the music starts up, he slowly rises, striking an almost tragic pose.  Watching Bono on the stage is always a treat.

(There's been a lot of talk about this next song.
Maybe, maybe too much talk. This song is not a rebel song.
This song is Sunday Bloody Sunday.)

I can't believe the news today
I can't close my eyes
And make it go away
How long...
How long must we sing this song?
How long? How long...
Tonight...we can be as one
Tonight...

Broken bottles under children's feet
And bodies strewn across a dead end street
But I won't heed the battle call
Puts my back up
My back up against the wall

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday

And the battle's just begun
There's many lost, tell me who has won
The trench is dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters
Torn apart

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday

How long...
How long must we sing this song?
How long? How long...
Tonight...we can be as one
Tonight...
Tonight...tonight...
Tonight...tonight...

(Get it up!)

Wipe your tears away
Wipe your tears away
Wipe your tears away
Wipe your tears away
(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
Wipe your tears away
(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)

Sunday, Bloody Sunday (Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
Sunday, Bloody Sunday (Sunday, Bloody Sunday)

(I'm so sick of it!)
(Run it up!)

And it's true we are immune
When fact is fiction and TV reality
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die

(Sunday, Bloody Sunday) The real battle just begun
(Sunday, Bloody Sunday) To claim the victory Jesus won
On...

Sunday Bloody Sunday
Sunday Bloody Sunday

Sunday Bloody Sunday
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Sunday Bloody Sunday

The Electric Co. (4:58)
Originally released in Boy
    - This is such a great live version, proving that U2 is great live (unlike Treble Charger, who sound hoarse and hurried).  When Bono's singing the opening to this song, he almost sounds condescending which is very reflective of the song's content.  For the live version, you'll notice he adds an opening verse to match the rapid strumming of the guitar.  Very nice.

Somebody cry, somebody cry
Somebody cry
Well somebody try, somebody try
Somebody try something quick
Don't you look back, don't you look back
Don't you look back
Well somebody cry, somebody cry
Somebody cry
Well I can't see why or
What for!
What for!
What for!

(Break it up!)

Boy, stupid boy
Don't sit at the table
'til you're able to

Toy, broken toy
You shout and shout
You're inside out

'til you don't know...Electric co.
'til you don't know...Electric co.

Red, running red
You play for real
Toy could feel
Hole in your head
You go in shock
You're spoon-fed

'til you don't know...Electric co.
'til you don't know...Electric co.

(Break it up!)

I love the crowd...

If you don't know...Electric co.
If you don't know...Electric co.
If you don't know...Electric co.
If you don't know...Electric co.

New Year's Day (4:36)
Originally released in War
     - I love the opening to this version.  The bass comes through strong instead of the piano, which comes in later.  Another great live version.  I'm not sure who plays the piano here, cause I can hear The Edge playing guitar.  Lyrically, not much change, but still an excellent song.

Yeah...

All is quiet on New Year's Day
A world in white gets underway
Oh, I want to be with you
Be with you night and day
Nothing changes on New Year's Day
On New Year's Day

I will be with you again
I will be with you again

Under a blood red sky
A crowd has gathered in black and white
Arms entwined, the chosen few
The newspaper says, says
Say it's true it's true...
And we can break through
Though torn in two
We can be one

I...I will begin again
I...I will begin again

I will be with you again
I will be with you again
I will be with you again
I will be with you again

"40" (3:45)
Originally released in War
     - Basically I feel the same about this version as the last one, except I don't like this version as much as the last one!  Everytime Bono signs How long to sing... it sounds really forced.  I can sympathize, as this was the last song they were playing, and they were all undoubtably tired.  The crowd singing during the fade out isn't too bad though.

(Sing this with me, this is 40)

I waited patiently for the Lord
He inclined and heard my cry
He lift me up out of the pit
Out of the mire and clay

I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song

How long to sing this song?
How long to sing this song?
How long...how long...how long...
How long...to sing this song

He set my feet upon a rock
And made my footsteps firm
Many will see
Many will see and hear

I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song

(Sing it!)

How long to sing this song?
How long to sing this song?
How long...how long...how long...
How long...to sing this song

(Thank you. Good night)
