There used to be brief statements at the bottom of each page to this effect, but I have had so many requests from students and other people wanting to copy, use or quote information from this site, that I figured that I may save a lot of you some time and effort if I state my copyright rules more explicitly.

Wherever, below, I refer to 'information' on this site, this includes pictures, excerpts, whole pages, quotes, or anything else.

• If you wish to use information on this site for research papers, school reports, essays or any NON-PROFIT educational use, that is most welcome. If you could send me a copy of your work that would be appreciated; this is not a condition of use, I'd just be interested to see how it was used.

• If you wish to use information on this site in the media, you are welcome to do so. Again, if you could send me a copy of the article I would very much appreciate it.

• Just like any information you get from a book, journal, etc. All use of information from this site (or any electronic source) must be accompanied by an acknowledgement of the source. So far as I can see you basically need to show in your references or bibliography:

  • the name of the Author (Whithers, R),
  • date (1997-2000, sorry few of my pages have a date on them, but if there is a 'last update' or similar date on the page, use the year in that),

  • Form (Online or HTTP)

  • The date you accessed it. (Because the content of webpages can change frequently.)

• Making a single electronic and/or printed copy of the site, any pages or any parts of pages is also fine, so long as it is for personal use only.

Now the disclaimer part. Because of the sensitive nature of the information on this site, and especially because advice is given in many places, it seems prudent to inform you of a few things and, hopefully, cover my butt.
