Comments: Morning heart rate was rather high at 64bpm after restless nacht of sleep. Whole day today was sleepy. Dozed off a few times.

Run started rather slow to conserve energy for latter stages. Chose a slower tempo mind-tune just to make sure didn't go too fast in the beginning, and it kind of worked. It worked kinda too well, because I think it was too slow. In the beginning, everything was kinda klunky & unsynchronized. This went on up to 5k. It basically held off the Demonic Side Stitch attack to the 6th km. As usual, countered it with noisy exhales to the tune of MasQue Nada base guitar (haha!). After 5k, basically sped up to make for the slower time. At 7k, glancing at the chrono, I thought I saw 50 min, so basically knew that need to finish in 20, 10min each way, to do a sub 1:10. Coming into the 8th km, I was In Tha Zone. Everything became synchronized and flowing and ran without thinking. Whoa, what a feeling. Then reaching Jetty end, horrors, it was almost 1:01, and had to complete in 9 mins!! I knew it had been done before, so this was when I really turboed "with the spirit of Pia", pulling every kind of mind trick I can imagine, and huffing and puffing till my lungs felt burning, and closing into the final stretch, really opened up the stride (to my surprise, still had energy) to sprint to the Two-trees finish line.

Muahahaha! A double PR today! Broke both 10k and 8.5k PRs. 10k PR improved by more than a minute, muahaha! The downside, due to my miscalculation, I was just 16 seconds off a sub 1:10. Haha, no matter, this run made my day.
Postrun: Tired, both Achilles ached, but later recovered. Later the night, re-carboed in preparation for Sa long run (if it materializes) which will be the longest 23.75 km run, the final long one before tapering off. Next week's LSD will taper off to 15 km only I think.
Postrun + 1 day: Forgot to take morning heart rate. Legs still store, especially the Achilles, but in all, no major pains (good). Increased the VitC dosage to hasten recovery, hopefully will recover enough by tomorrow morning. By afternoon, heart rate is about 70. Huh? What's happening? Drank lots of water to rehydrate for tomorrow's long one.
Characters: Fit youngish runner with long strides doing at least 5k. Jalan2 Cari Makan Lookalike lady with kids. Kids with changkuls to dig out sea critters from the mud. Tourists stopping by to take pics with Penang Bridge in the background. And don't forget the three dogs (must be tourists too - it's cuti sekolah)
