The hard competitions among medical students added to their high ambitions, made them at times treat their patients as an educational material. The patients fulfill their challenged diagnostic ability and are some times looked at as experimental subjects. They forget that they are dealing with a human being who is suffering and seeking a disparate help.
Tutors and medical educators must realize and fight such attitude among the medical students. The best way to fight such negative attitude includes setting an example for the students by their own behavior. Making the attitude towards patients a first priority item in a medical student evaluation is essential in graduating better physicians.
