I have been in love with Alfas before I could drive. I remember in my teen years in Buenos Aires, admiring those beautiful Alfas roaring through the streets among Fiats, Peugeots and Renaults. The Alfas were always the most attractive ones.
It wasn't until after I moved to the States that I was able to buy my first one, brand new 1983 GTV6, metallic gray, black interior. What a beautiful car! What an exhilarating experience! Through the years the car enjoyed several mods: Momo wheels, steering wheel and shift knob. Was lowered at front with shorter springs in the back. Engine mods where only minimal: a higher performance ECU (chip), K&N air filter and a higher flow exhaust muffler. For a while it ran with straight center pipes, but at the time of smogging the car, it received it's mid section back.

When my son could drive I couldn't think of a better car than this 1975 Alfetta GT:
My next Alfa was also a metallic gray GTV6, black interior, this time a 1984 model. Very low miles and with already some mods: Sperry stage 2 valve job, Pandora's ECU, crossed drilled rotors, 3 liter clutch, straight exhaust pipes in the center. It was immaculate inside and out, Concourse winner by previous owner (two Best of Shows, six Firsts, two seconds). I only added a few things, such as tinted windows, alarm system with keyless locks, front and back sway bars, shocks and springs, which lowered the car about 1 1/2 inches. It later inherited the Momo wheels and steering wheels of my 83 GTV6. One day, having several cars in the family, I decided to sell it. A gentleman decided to buy it, instead of a new Porsche he was considering. With all the money he saved he replaced the 100 K mile engine for a 3 litter one, highly tuned, ported and polished, with new 6 piston calipers complete with new rotors, steel braided lines and m/c, new 17 inch wheels and tires, exhaust, front and rear fiberglass bumpers, new interior, new paint job, (believe me, it did not need one), and several other things. I am very happy the car found such a loving, nurturing home.

The 83 GTV6 had a bad encounter and had to be retired. In it's place we found a 1986 Red GTV6 2.5 with a blown engine. We had the engine replaced, added S-cams, ECU, K&N filter, exhaust, lowered the car, front and back sway bars, tinted windows, new 5 spoke 16 inch rims and new tires. Later Sparco racing seats, fiberglass bumpers, sound system, Speedline steering wheel and shift knob. Very fast car.
