This is my newly acquired sparkling clean, one prior owner 1974 Alfa GT Veloce 2000
Bought late in 1999, this absolutely stock GTV looked really great. The original paint was totally oxidized, and so far has required only buffing and polishing. Stock 2 liter engine with 109 K miles. These are pictures of the car before all the minor work done to it:
Next are the pictures with the car lowered (Shankle springs), painted wheels and new tires, and new Ansa exhaust. It also has open air cleaners (Shankle's Quadraflo) replacing the airbox (only for the winter), euro rear lenses (yellow turn signals), and H-4 headlamps, as well as yellow fog lights. The grill and the original paint have been polished to a *new* look.
But now again the car is finally back home. After much soul searching and countless communications with people in the business, I decided to make the GTV a Time Trial car. So we first went through the whole front end changing everything worn or loose, installing Ward and Deane (W&D) springs, Koni Sport (yellow) shocks, adjustable upper control arm, all bushings, steering wheel, 14 alloy wheels and competition Kumho V700 tires (205/55x14), rear sway bar (W&D), and a few other things. Next will be a fine tuning period of the suspension, A Time Trial by AROSC in Fontana March 31, 2001, and a driving school at the Streets of Willow on April 21and 22. After that, the transmission and engine should have their turn. For now they remain stock. Unless you want to send a charitable donation. Following are the latest (March 25) pictures with an Autopower roll bar, a competition Corbeau seat, the "new" Campagnolo wheels and competition tires:
this is the interior with the original seat, but with the new Momo Prototipo steering wheel.

These are some of the latest pictures:
During practice runs in Willow Springs in April 2002, I t-boned a Mustang, and the days of this beautiful 74 GT Veloce were over. However, she became a great donor car for it's replacement: A pretty rough red 1973 GTV. It received the suspension, adjustable camber arms, the whole rear suspension and differential, and some of the interior, such as the Momo Prototipo steering wheel, Corbeau Forza race driver seat (I added a passenger seat as well), the roll bar, and some other minor things. All that's left of the old car is the engine, awaiting a high performance rebuild. The pictures of the wrecked 74 GTV are elsewhere. But here are some pictures of my "new GTV" in Fontana, Ca, on July 4th 2002, day of the National Alfa Club Convention Time Trials. The extra heavy Spider phone-dial wheels were a borrowed, the engine is still stock, running extremely rich, and I could still manage a 6th place.
More photos to come.
