Ingredients:
2 packages of dry yeast
Put yeast in warm water and set aside. Pour scalded milk over shortening, salt and honey in a
large bowl. Mix and then let cool to luke warm temperature. Stir in 2 cups of flour. Add the
yeast and oatmeal. Stir in enough additional flour to make a soft dough. Turn out onto a
lightly floured board. Knead until smooth and satiny, about 10 minutes. Round the dough into
a ball and place in a large greased bowl; brush lightly with melted shortening. Cover and let
rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour. Punch dough down and cover, let rest
for 10 minutes. Shape to form 2 loaves. Place in 2 greased loaf pans; brush lightly with
melted shortening. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled in size, about 45 minutes. Bake at
350F for about 45 minutes.
