Leng Kee Bak Kut Teh, Jalan Ipoh.
This bak kut teh is one of the best in town. If you can wait for 45 minutes, then try their custom cook claypot bak kut teh. Their claypot bak kut teh with abalone (at over RM100) is also well known.

This restaurant is well known for their pomfret (or kurau) fish porridge, fried bee hoon (dried) and loh mee.

Sin (new) Law Hiang, Taman Kok Lian
It appear that Chinese family business can't stay for long. This restaurant is opened by elder brother of Liew Hang at Bandar Baru Sentul. We have yet to try their 'signature' dishes eg claypot tong sat, curry fish head, szechuan sting ray, seafood tomyam, etc. However, we will grant them 2 stars rating for what we have tried (fried fish with spring onion, fried chicken wing and tofu) and placing them under review.

Kedai Kopi Mee Boon at Jalan Ipoh.
This coffee shop's speciality is dim sum. Unlike dim sum at restaurant, Mee Boon's dim sum's filling is pork meat. We like their tai pow and Lor Mai Kai.

Loy Sek Fook, Sentul.
This stall's steam fish head, fried intestine, fried la-la, cold bean curd are excellent. Samsu is available from the next stall.

Restoran Makanan Laut Liew Hang, Bandar Baru Sentul.
After the partners (brothers) split, we find the food below our expectation. However, they still serve 'SiChuan' steam sting ray, fried chicken, Tom Yam prawn, curry fish head, fried fish head with bean sauce and claypot catfish which are better than many.

Peng Nam Restaurant.
This restaurant is in the 3rd generation (more than 50 years old) and is popular with the local population. Their speciality is braised kurau fish with beancurb, braised chicken with bitter gould and steamed rice in tin bowl.

Peter & Yap's Fish Head Curry, Setapak.
This shop's fish head curry is popular. In additional of fish head, you can add prawn and sotong as extra. Apparently, the operator for lunch and dinner is different.

Prawn Mee in Taman Kok Lian.
This husband and wife stall serve an excellent Penang prawn mee and fried kuoy teow.

This mum and pop stall's curry laksa is good.

San Lee, Batu Caves.
We enjoyerd their fish (kurau) porridge, mee goreng, pineapple chicken and kong pou clayfish (lobster tail).

Location: Opposite Pan Heong, Medan Batu Caves and Cheow Meng Chinese school, behind the tyre shop in a wooden hut.

Pan Heong, Batu Caves.
This restaurant is more popular for their porridge and is a better setup than San Lee. However, we prefer San Lee. At this place you can order abalone porridge at RM100 per pot.

Kwee Kee Yong Tau Foo in Batu Caves.
This shop is operate by sisters. Their Hakka yong tau foo is good and popular.

Location: Near to Cheow Meng Chinese school, opposite Medan Batu Caves, Batu Caves.

Steam Fish in Rawang.
This stall is a heavan for fish lover. As there are many fish ponds around Rawang, fish is guarantted fresh. However, they serve only one type of fish (Telapia fish). Their specialty is steam fish and mince pork with egg plant. Overhere, it is normal to order one fish (about 400 to 500g) per person. On Sunday, the stall is full from opening and waiting time is one to two hour.

Bah Kut Teh at Kedai Kopi Sin Seng Hin, Jalan Ipoh.
This stall bah kut teh flavour is stronger than average and their garlic rice is good.

Location: Next to Beauty Light Bridal Gown Center, at the Batu Cantonmen traffic light, Batu 4, Jalan Ipoh.

Restoran Qianli Xiang.
This shop is popular with its homemade 'Ulu Yam loh mee'. Their Hokkien fried mee and meehoon is good too.

Yong Tau Foo at Jijang Hawker Center.
Their bean curd, fried meatballs, squidballs, ladyfingers, stuffed brinjals, stuffed bitter gourds and stuffed chiily is nice .

Kedai Kopi Tujuh, Batu Village.
This non air-conditioned coffee shop offered better than average steamed cod fish, fried venison with spring onion and olyster sauce lettuce. However, we were rather disappointed with their Hong Kong style steamed fish head. Otherwise, they should deserved a 2 stars rating.

Location: Opposite Heng Nam Hai coffee shop, Jalan Kepong Lama, Batu Village or otherwise known as Batu 5, Jalan Ipoh.
Open for breakfast, lunch and until 6:30pm. Closed on alternate Sunday.

Restoran Seafood Rawang.
Visited this restaurant for a family dinner and ordered steamed fish, fried prawn, braised sea cucumber with mushroom, spinach in soup and fried venison with spring onion and ginger. We find the foods better than expected.

Dynastee Restsaurant at Templer Park Resort.
This restaurant is located at Templer Park Resort but opened to the public, is remote and has few patrons. But we find their cooking better than expected.

Visited this restaurant for dimsum. Service at this place is quite prompt and dimsum is better than mass produced type.

Kedai Makanan Sin Kar Hee
This popular local restaurant started at Taman Kok Lian hawker center many years ago and has grown to a 60 tables restaurant. Popular dishes are lala in superior soup, homemade tofu, etc.

A popular local restaurant serving bah kut teh for lunch and dinner. Teir bah kut teh is thick and dark type.

Hup Kee Seafood Restaurant.
This restaurant established more than 20 years ago serving the local population and their popular dish is the assam fish.

Restaurant Kam Lum Tai.
This restaurant has a better decoration than others in the vicinity and dimsum is available for lunch. Their advertising gimmick is 1950's lor mai kai, which we find average in taste and expensive in price. We prefer their a la carte than their neighbours.

Setapak Teo Chew Restaurant, Jalan Setapak.
They serve traditional teow chew food. Noodels is good.

Luxurious Noodle House.
This restaurant serve hawker foods e.g. wanton mee, fried mee, rice, set menu, a la carte, etc. Servers are mostly either part-timers or inexperienced, and cooking is inconsistent.
