Lemon and Paeroa (L&P)
The
name Lemon and Paeroa comes from the two original
ingredients of the drink. Lemon juice and natural
mineral water from a New Zealand town named
Paeroa.
Bottling
of the drink began in Paeroa in 1907, flavours
other than Lemon were tested by Menzies and Co,
the original bottler, but Lemon was undoubtly the
most popular. In those days the drink was called
Lemon and Paeroa Natural Mineral Water. It's
popularity soon spread far across the country.
These
days the actual mineral water from Paeroa is no
longer used, however all the same mineral
components are added to retain the original taste
and properties.
L&P
is produced exclusively in New Zealand, but can
be bought in Australia (and possibly other
countries) through the "New Zealand Natural Ice
Cream" outlets.
