Who Am I?
Sometimes I wonder that myself.
Well, for starters, I'm a Texan by way of Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Tennessee, Massachusettes, and Florida (yes, twice), and -no doubt this comes as a big surprise- I HATE cold weather. Retired Navy, Aviation Electronics. This means I can hook up my own stereo and program my VCR to record one program while I watch another -whoo hoo! (That year at Radio Shack didn't hurt, either.) On a laid-back second career as a Night-shift Computer Operator (where do you think I found the time to work on this web page?) So I guess it's about time to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Just don't hurry me. And as you can probably tell from my sense of humor, I'm not very mature.
P.S. This is the only page with (anoying) music. Hey, it's "me". (Be glad it's not the soundtrack from "Rocky Horror". Be Very Glad.)
My Interests
- I like beer, all kinds. My favorite beer is "COLD" - No! wait, it's "FREE", No! um, I mean, alright already, if I have to choose, er : COLD. Have even done some home brewing with that cute little Mr. Beer. Sometimes I find it a tad too slow for me, though, big suprise. Over-carbonated one batch and was burping all night.
- I like food, all kinds. I wish I had more time to cook (sometimes). My favorite Friends are the ones who cook for me. I firmly believe that there's no such thing as "too much" garlic. No doubt you're thinking Thank goodness for the distance of the Internet.
- And boy, do I just love wine. Goes with everything, even HTML, believe it or not. (Believe it. I could never have gotten this far without it.) I personally prefer a nice, big red, with Cabernet Savignon topping the list and Zinfandel (the REAL Zins- RED) not too far behind. And from time to time, I also enjoy a piquant Pinot Noir and a Happy little Syrah. Notice a little pattern, here?
- I'll go out on a limb here, and admit that I'm not a very "domestic" person. Imagine my joy when I found Kemii's Quick Tips on Housecleaning. Now here is a woman after my own heart. She really knows how to cut corners. Some of her ideas I hadn't even thought of! (If my Mom ever knew how many of these ideas I actually use.......)
And here are some of my very own tips....
Projects
- HTML
- This page is a learning experience for me, and has already improved by leaps and bounds. Think I'm kidding? Check out the 'before' -version. See? So it looks a lot like this one, but back then, it was the only page. And now I'm into this thing called "updating" - I feel like I'm re-inventing the wheel all over again - just how short can one person's memory be?? Sheeesh.... Why would I be doing this to myself, if it wasn't for a good cause? Even an old dog ( Hey! wait a minute....)
- Home Pages
- My Best Friend , who got me into this mess by starting his own Home Page, is also at Geocities. Can you say "Competitive Edge"? I knew you could. We now have a new topic to argue...I mean 'communicate' about. "Hi, Mike!" Speaking of which, Mike if you will go here you will find an example of putting text between two pictures. For those who would like to see Sgt. Mike's HomePage click ( Oh, NO!! It's GONE!!!). Oh, never mind. A Great Guy, Mike, who can't seem to shake that Florida sand from between his toes.... (and we've tried...)
My other Best Friends Evelyn and Jon do not have Web Pages yet. They still work for a living. (Subject to change. Like "Retirement is on The Horizon!") They can always come and see me. See us at Ev's latest Big Bash.
- My Little Help Pages
- I'm talking real little help here, folks. Sometimes I feel like the blind leading the blind. But in addition to helping
Mike with text and pics, here is my explanation of "cut and paste" or more acurately, "copy and paste" for those new to computers in general, and aren't gonna let them new-fangled machines get the better o' them. (Yeah, you, Mom.)
- Coolness/Funness (funness?)
- OK, it's FUN. I get to use all those "creative urges" for something a bit more useful than thinking up dirty Limericks. (Clean Limericks were a short-lived fad.) Limericks - maybe there's a page there? And now that I have that pesky GuestBook figured out, ya'll can leave pithy words of wisdom (or advice - I'm always in need of good advice). I've even made a page for my cat, Gremlin, who says I need to get a life? Plus, it's keeping me off the streets.
- Updates
- I've turned the "Thought O' The Day" page into an official link to The Portable Curmudgeon which is where I got those smarty sigs from all along. Figured I otta give credit where credit is due. People were begining to think I was smart. They're worth checking out, fer shure.
"What is a curmudgeon", you ask? Imagine someone (me), waking up late; no hot water in the shower; finding that I'm out of coffee and stubbing my toe on the coffee table. I'm going to be just a tad surly and snapish, I would think. Beware the grouch with a quick tongue.
Cool Stuff
I'm going to put some links here. Really. Eventually. Maybe.
