My first love is and always will be
swords, but in my financial absence from
collecting, I discovered the sword's little
brother, the knife. Other than lockbacks and a
folder here or there, I had never really invested
any serious money in knives. The first knife I
purchased that cost a considerable amount was a
Gerber Applegate Fairbairn Covert Folder. I still
consider it to be one of the most solid knives I
own (although I would expect nothing less from
the combination of Gerber and ATS 34 steel). My
interest took off from there.
The newest
addition to my collection was a gift from my
parents for my 21st birthday (most 'rents give
booze, mine give weapons). It's a beautiful Boker
damascus piece, made all the more special by the
fact that its handle is inset with wood from a
3000 year old Moorland Oak tree. Here's some
