My interest in movies didn't develop until I started college and began looking for ways to occupy the hours I wasn't studying or getting drunk. I would estimate that I watched anywhere from 300 to 400 movies in my first two years of school. I've tried to see a wide range of films, from the mainstream pictures of Hollywood to indy flicks to some foreign movies (although only if they're highly recommended) and, of course, classics like The Apartment and North By Northwest. The ability of films to move us, to engage our emotions and draw us into another world is what intrigues me the most. True, there is more shit made than quality flicks, but those that are worthy have something meaningful to say.

For an idea of my tastes, I've compiled a list of my movie favorites:

Actors:

Jack Nicholson
Al Pacino
Johnny Depp

Morgan Freeman
William H. Macy
Kevin Spacey
Jack Lemmon
Peter Sellers
Jimmy Stewart
Tom Hanks
Willem Dafoe

Directors:

Stanley Kubrick
Alfred Hitchcock

Robert Zemeckis
Michael Mann
Clint Eastwood
M. Night Shyamalan

Movies:

1. The Shawshank Redemption
2. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
3. Forrest Gump
4. Being John Malkovich
5. Taxi Driver
6. Scent of a Woman
7. O Brother Where Art Thou
8. American Beauty
9. The Truman Show
10. Seven

Honorable Mentions:
The Secret Lives of Dentists
Signs
Back to the Future
Dark City
Man On Fire
North By Northwest
One Hour Photo

Even though I think the MPAA is an evil, bully of an organization, I still go to the movies almost every weekend. I've included some reviews of the movies I've seen recently on the following pages.
