The history of Pack 352 starts back in the 1950's. It has been sponsored by Ridgely Elementary School's PTA. We hold our Pack and Den meetings at the school. Currently, we have around 37 active scouts within our pack. The boys within our pack attend approximately 4 different elementary schools. As you can see we have a wide demographical range.
We are located in the capitol city of Springfield, Illinois. Our council is Abraham Lincoln Council located in Springfield.
Our Cub Master, Lonnie Penman, is in his 5th year with the pack. Lonnie has a son in the Webelos 2 program and another son in the Bear program. Please assist him with anything that he may as ask of you to facilitate an easy transition for the pack.
We have our den meetings and a pack meeting every month. Depending on the rank of the boys is to how many den meetings they have per month. Usually, Tigers have 2 monthly meetings and 1 "go see it" activity. Wolfs and Bears have 2 - 3 meetings per month. Webelos usually have 3-4 meetings per month.
There is always recruiting throughout the year to bring new scouts into our pack. Our main recruitment is in the fall when school is back in session. We have 2 family pack camp-outs scheduling one in May/June and then in September / October. During the year we have a Cake Bake Auction in October. The scouts bake cakes, make cookies etc. with a Scout theme or a Halloween theme. The cakes are auctioned off and voted on different categories and the winners are given medallions and certificates. This is our second best fundraiser for our pack. Please check out our fundraising page for our other money making projects.
The pinewood derby race is one of the most important events to any scout. They craft a race car from a block of wood any way that they like then we have a race in January. The boys take much pride in their cars....they have lots of fun with the race.
Another event that the boys look foward to is the summer camps. They really are fun and the scouts get to learn and do lots of activities that maybe they would normally not do. Two of the favorites are the BB gun range and the archery range.
