(Newton Center, May 30, 2007) Perhaps this years' batch of Human Growth Hormone is tainted. Maybe it's Bizarro World. The BIG BAD AL EA$T, the toughest division in the land, is playing sub-.500 baseball. Not only that, but the Yankees are bringin' up the rear, 8 games under.

Looks like the Townies got some real pitching this year. Adding Dice-K to the core of Schilling, Beckett & Wakefield has thus far proven to be Theo's finest move. Beckett is now 8-0, everyone is pitching pretty darn good, and the bullpen, with Okajima setting up Papalbon has been brilliant.

The Sox are outscoring the Yankee all-stars (never underestimate a Bill James-designed offense) and leading the league in pitching. Rocket Roger Clemens rides in to rescue NY ($27mil, pro-rated), but will sit out the series in Fenway this weekend. But is it too late? It's never too late, but the Yanks must play brilliantly from here on in, and the Sox must really suck. Too much pitching for the Sox to suck I thinks..... -- JB
