The Journey Starts Here! This new urban culture was first introduced to me when I was living my poor student live some where in East London 1999. The Influence of my house mates who are into this thing are so great later I found myself as one of the believer. The first one I been to was a Techno party some- where down in London Bridge. They held it in this event in an old train station. It was great, but I knew deep in myheart that it wasnt the sound I wanted to hear. The next week after the Cannabis March we went to an after party down in Lea Bridge RD called the Dungeon. The party called HEADFUK, the place a wine cellar under the river. Its damp and it has a cave appereance. With 4 diffrent room playing Jungle/Drum n Bass, Trance, Electronica, and Techno. No House shit and it was FOOKIN' GREAT! That night too I decided to pop me cherry for the first time. No Im not talking about loosing virginity(Lost it long before!), but to pop my first pil and my body to say helooooo chemical! It was over all a goodnights, later in the months II found myself going to this places alone and being familiar with it. They organize it preety well, since it has neer been shut down and nobody ever get into trouble. This Non profit organization are not a rip off, they dedicated themself solely to the Music and the people who come for the reason. Of hearing some hard banging ARDKORE shit! To get in only cost you a fiver, and they inform you via e mail or snail mail for the next party evening. I should say im in love with this one! The guy who is the main Headfuck was Nick. I 'm preety sure he is the big guy, but he never seem to show of like one.It was like everyone are in the same level. Which again I said is a good team work. Since it is a collective work, anyone can participate, hence we seen a lot of art student or them who called themself artist participating. If not for settings, its for stalls, seling underground records, T-shirts to bongs, or a live MC who can play side by side with the Junglist Turntablist. There are no bouncers, but when things got rough like people provoking bad vibe of violence this BIG mutherfuckers came out wearing black and chucking those fuckers out! We only want to party, we dont want any violence! Its so organize that they practicly have their own medicine man who sell the Biscuits to the people, who only prescribe the best blend there is. There was one time when they caught this fuckers selling fake pils to people and then banned him for live from the party as well as taking his pictures and post it in other underground raves eerywhere. This little ones are part of UNITED TO DANCE org who unite all the little parties happening all over London. Theres a hotline to call every weeknd and guarantee more than one party on those days. It was bliss! and I have to tell you that this kind of organization or even underground rave I have never seen or even heard here in Melbourne yet, but may be very soon. *chiqbanana |

The Diffrent between the UK Rave and the Aussie Rave
As far as I can tell, that this culture are far more established back in UK than here in Aussie. It is only emerging and definitly is the next big thing. Here in Aussie, people seems to look at Raves as a comercial thing, where as in UK its more like a Tribal Gathering . I found this thing is misleading, but not a bad thing. People have the right to develop their own culture, and the diversity is the one that triggers us to expirience more. Like beneficial thing about the Rave in Aussie, that you got a very good selection of International DJ rotation. Some of them you never really can tell where they playing next in England, cause people taking them for granted. UK being the Mecca for ARDKORE rave tunes is unquestionable, where as America now are the Mecca for the House (for inventing the Warehouse parties) and US garage. There are some pityful fact i would like to scream about, that I found it sad for those club whose putting add on the street magazines selling the word "UK DJ" when he would probably just some cunts next door! Im not worrying tho, I know people here grown smarter, may be they should hear some advance raver preaching before their attempt to be a believer in this subculture. *chiqbanana |

Why is it an Underground Movement in UK Most of the people who absorb this culture are young people, who comes to dance and release themself from stress. apart from that its a socializing venue for all of them. who got the same interest, for music! Like we all know that we are now more critical and more sensitive about whats going on out there, especially concerning the welfare of student or the less fortunate people. Moreless the down to earth people who refuse going to clubs pay a lot for a girl to knock your beer off and didnt say sorry, to get bashed for the result of alcohol, or people who just came to pick up a fuck. (That is appaling. I didnt say you cant get a good fuck in raves, you can. But in a more subtle way, that they come for the music instead jsut for a fuck.) Flyers about demos are spread out at this party, not mentioning half of them who turn out to be from the Socialist Worker. Demos against Mcdonalds for the shit wages, or even for the standard wage demo in UK.. I did get the flyer for a meeting concerning the J18 last year too. The street occupation of "Reclaim The Street". something similiar to the May day we have around the world. So its a prety good gathering method for people with diffrent backgrounds all together in one place. Its secretive, and that only certain people(in a large number!) would know. The New Tribe are emerging, we come to surface rarely, but when we do we stick together Now as we know they are not pushing it into Politics but for Mother Earth as well. This kind of gatherings I see in here are the ones like Earthcore, i should think its a fucking fantaboulous idea for gathering people do somthing for the world and then party all night out your fucking head off! I prefer this kind of tribal gathering instead of those commercial Ministry of Sound shit or Gate Crasher. No glow stick, no talcum powder just real people with real music! |
