Guild
Rules
Why
do we have to have rules ?
Some
people have said that the guild has strict rules, personally i've tried
to make the rules as lax as possible, but then this isnt just a way of
exchanging vp urls. The guild is meant to mean something, and thus it requires
some rules.
If
however you feel a rule is unfair, unclear, needs amended, or you want a
rule added then contact me at devalin@avnet.co.uk |
Rule
1
You
must not use avatars created by other people on your site without their
prior permission. If their permission is given please acknowledge the avatar
as theirs.
Why
Should we do this ? We all know that alot of the images (scanned or otherwise)
are created by other people and are under copyright to those people, so
why shouldnt we take other peoples avatars as well.
Well
one reason is that avatar creators spend a great deal of time finding and
editing appropriate images to be used by vp citizens, only the lazy cant
be bothered to find their own material.
Rule
2
Do
not take other peoples avatars and edit them without permission. This includes
cutting images down, colour changes, object additions etc.
If
you like an image on someone elses site, and think you can do something
to it that will make it a truly new avatar then ask, if they wont let you
touch their copy they might tell you the source !
Rule
3
Once
your membership has been confirmed you need to place the guild logo (shown
below) on your site and place a link to the avatar creators guild somewhere
on your site, prefereably on the index page or avatar page. The following
button image should be used and linked to this URL:
http://www.avnet.co.uk/devalin/guild/
If
your site contains frames then you must add the (target="_top") tag to
prevent trapping the guild site in your site.
NB
If you do have a site that uses frames please do add the target top tag,
some of the additions i plan to add to the guild (like the search engine)
wont work properly if frames already exist, thanks.
Rule
4
You
must NOT put the guild logo on your site until it has been accepted into
the guild. The logo denotes membership, no site will be reviewed by the
guild panel if it already uses the guild logo. For more information and
for alternative link buttons to use (instead of the membership logo) click
HERE.
