Bellamy's new album "Blue Water World"
Like Jimmy Buffett, Chris Bellamy loves the sea. There are other similarities to
the famous seafaring singer, namely country vocals and Caribbean rhythms. Mr.
Buffett, however, doesn't often use jazz guitarist, and that's what gives Blue
Water World a unique wrinkle. Bobby Russell brightens several tunes with his
light touch, and so does Jack Ketner on pedal steel.
Mr. Bellamy's lyrics strike a familiar ground. The Pirate Song recounts
the exploits of Blackbeard, while Lumina waxes nostalgic about old
Wrightsville Beach. Parrotheads should find Blue Water World as pleasing as a
moonlit sail.
