The Founder
Background History
His name is Khairul Abdul Karim. He is the founder of GaGaLand. The fine but humble guy was born on October 1, 1974 in Kuala Lumpur, capital city of Malaysia.
Since he was a kid, he has been known to cause serious headaches to his parents and relatives. However, that cute little kid knew that that was a temporary call. He knew he was going to be somebody in the future and makes his parents and relatives proud. For that reason, he continues to cause them headaches until now. His family is a fine one. He is the first of five. The others are his two sisters and two brothers.
The parents have brought them up well. Khairul's parents work with Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Berhad and that presents them with a headache - They keep moving from one state to another. Therefore, Khairul, as a little kid, never had any good friends of his own. He has never had the chance. He had been into two kindergartens, three primary schools, three secondary schools and four colleges and universities. Now that is a fact! But mainly he lives his life in Kuala Lumpur.
In his area, Taman Keramat, he has two very loyal friends by the names of Zaid and Bob. Next to his family, these guys are the reasons behind his success.
Yes, he was in Victoria Institution (V.I.) from 1990 to 1992 but that did not affect his humbleness at all. He was quite proud of the school though. One thing that is very fine about him, he does not take things for granted. Matters are never trivial to him. Now that is a principle to believe in.
Recent
If there is one thing to describe about him, the word is experience. Right after he got his S.P.M. result (in March 1992), he was offered into I.T.M. Arau and also the International Islamic University (I.I.U.) in Petaling Jaya. As a risk taker, he went to I.T.M. right up in the very north of Malaysia to pursue his studies in Diploma in Science. But, as everybody has predicted, he was never a scientist. He is a businessman, a corporate figure.
He left I.T.M. just one week after he enrolled and discovered I.I.U. as his knowledge heaven. There, he took up Economics matriculation. Khairul graduated from the Matriculation Centre in 1994 and then was offered a place in the main campus of I.I.U. It was a great university we once heard him say. He praised the university. But the university never praised him. Due to some misunderstandings, he boycotted the final examinations of that semester and later found a 'love letter' in front of his door saying : 'I am sorry but you have been kicked out!'. Now, that some legs they got there in I.I.U.
In August 1995, M.S.M. discovered his talents and quickly offered him the best programme there was in Malaysia, named ABC Programme. ABC stands for Accountancy and Business College in Dublin, Ireland. For that he had to do a three-year foundation course in M.S.M. Trolak before pursuing to Ireland. It was an accounting professional course. Yes, he was there for one year before he had to move again. His father had been promoted to be the General Manager of Bank Bumiputra London and that presented him with the chance to go straight away to England and finish his course in 1998 - The same year of graduation of his friends in I.I.U. He had no choice than to leave all his good friends in Malaysia. What a mess.
Recently, he has completed his degree in Middlesex University, London (in June 1998). He was in the B.A. Accounting and Finance special award programme. This place is good, but I wish I got the same chance back home - We heard him say.
