"Phoenix"
HMT-302 was activated 1 November 1966 at MCAS(H) Santa Ana, California. It was to serve alongside HMT-301 as a CH-46 training squadron. HMMT-302 was deactivated in 1972 and its aircraft and personnel were assigned to HMT-301.
In 1987, HMT-302 was reactivated at MCAS Tustin, this time as a CH-53D/E unit.In 1995 HMT-302 relocated to MCAS New River, North Carolina, and became the CH-53E training unit for both the Navy and Marine Corps.

Activated 1 November 1966 at Santa Ana, CA, as
Marine Medium Helicopter Training Squadron 302, and assigned to
Marine Helicopter Training Group 30, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing,
Fleet Marine Force.
Deactivated 31 March 1972.
Reactivated 20 November 1987 at Tustin, California, as Marine
Helicopter Training Squadron 302, and assigned to Marine Combat
Crew Readiness Training Group 10, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing, Fleet
Marine Force.
Reassigned to Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing,
Fleet Marine Force.
Relocated to New River, North Carolina, and reassigned during
June 1995 to Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing,
Fleet Marine Force.
