Sir Wally presents...the cats of Peke Avenue!

Peke Avenue is now in the country on a rural route in Oklahoma and there are lots of cats sharing the home. The KING of the cats was always Sir Wally, our first cat.

We lost Sir Wally on December 12, 2006.

Sir Wally

This is Sir Wally's story.

I was a "rescue"...I was found by my new meowmie and she looked for a more cat-oriented home for me because they had only the dratted Pekingese...so I just had to work a bit extra and convert her and "dad" to "cat people". I did my job so well that meowmie adopted the other kitties. My age is uncertain since I was a stray but I lived a long and happy life. Mom thinks I was around 12 when I went away to the Bridge to wait for the others.

I was very gentle, learned to go out on a leash, and loved to cuddle.

When I arrived, I was promptly enrolled in CLAW and graduated in August of 1999 with a Masters Degree in Feline Arts and Sciences. My birthday is listed as Dec 15 and I joined CLAW Oct 24 2000. I was an instructor of FERAL CATS and earned several degrees from the New CLAW.

Early on, I was given two kittens to "raise"...Cheyenne Autumn and Silvermyst. I did a good job and they became sweet natured fat healthy grown cats. Then three feral cats adopted our back yard and Meowmie caught them to be spayed or neutered. The first one caught was a Calico shorthair named Calli Victoria; then Meowmie captured her beautiful jet black sisfur and named her Lady Midnight. Their mom, "Carolina", was next to be gentled and was spayed. She is waiting at the Bridge along with Silvermyst.

In Memory of
Stormi
2000-2004

On a stormy day on her way to work, Meowmie stopped by a dumpster behind a carpet store to "liberate" some thrown away scraps for cat beds. She heard the desperate mewing of a kitten. She emptied out half the dumpster and found a tiny gray tabby kitty buried beneath. The baby kit became our Stormi and she grew to a lovely gentle lady.

Sadly, in May of 2004, we lost our Stormi...she had a severe adverse reaction to Hartz Mtn Flea Killer. While we are so sad, we know she had 4 more years than she would have had if she had remained trapped in the dumpster.

We also adopted two tiny babies in June 2001 from a lady Meowmie works with...a white and cream feline named Chinook and a gray and white named Jesse James. They were born in April 2001 and Chinook was spayed on October 19 2001.

Tripod was a front porch cat with three legs that was almost hit again by a car so he was brought inside too. He is now very spoiled, FAT and content.

EXERPTS FROM A CAT DIARY (We are owned by seven!)

DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another house plant.

DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair...must try this on their bed.

DAY 762 - Slept all day so that I could annoy my captors with sleep depriving, incessant, pleas for food at ungodly hours of the night.

DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan.

DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time however it included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick mind could invent such a liquid? My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth.

DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "wine." More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dogs are routinely released and seem more than happy to return. They are obviously half-wits. The Bird on the other hand has got to be an informant. He has mastered their frightful tongue (something akin to mole speak) and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal cage, his safety is assured. But I can wait; it is only a matter of time.
