I go to the Rainbow Bridge
Like I said earlier, my name is Felix, otherwise known as King Dog. I have to tell you what I'm up to now, but first I have to set the scene. (Good term, that is - I heard it from Mr. Shakespeare's dog, Hamet).
I lived with my momma and Uncle John and my younger brother and sister, Oscar and Sara. We all got along real good, and I thought that things would never change, but they do. My Uncle John got married and had a little boy baby. I thought they should have named him after me, because he said that he acted a lot like me, but they named him John, Jr. instead. I never got to meet him on earth, though. My hip dysplasia got so bad that my momma made a very hard decision. She decided to make all the hurt go away and to send me over the Rainbow Bridge.
If you don't know what that is, it's a place where all loved pets go, where they don't feel any pain, where it's always sunny and warm out, and we can run and dance and play (and eat) all we want. She took the day off from work and spent it all with me. She brushed my beautiful fur, took pictures of me with Sara and Oscar, and then she said it was time to go for the ride. She went over to Uncle John's house and picked him up and we went for a nice long ride. We went to the airport, and to the mall, and the flea market. I didn't get out at any of these places, but it was nice seeing them again. Uncle John had brought his baby's scent to me, so I could smell him. He smelled really good. We drove to Dr. K's office and Uncle John carried me in. They stayed with me for a real long time, and told me how much they loved me. I knew all that, but it was nice to hear anyway. Then Dr. K came in and I didn't growl at him or anything. I knew he was going to help me get rid of the pain. I went to sleep then, and traveled to the Rainbow Bridge.
I have been happy here. Sure, I miss my momma and Uncle John, grandma and grandpa, Cousin Pete (he has two little kids now, I could have herded them for him), and all my other friends, but Oscar joined me on March 30, 1999 and little Sara joined us in December, 1999. Momma was very sad, but I'm glad to have my "bro" and "sis" back with me again. It's been a while since I have seen them, and we had a lot of catching up to do when they got here. Why, there is even paper and pencils for me to chew here!! I also saw that momma has two new dogs, named Max and LJ now to remind her of what it's like to have goofy - er - smart dogs around the house!
Here's a picture of the three of us BE-YU-TI-ful dogs in our back yard. I, of course, am the good looking one, laying down as befits a king. Sara and Oscar, as my subjects, are dutifully awaiting my next command. We kinda look like this now, but we're all healthy and can run around and play all day if we want to.
