Who says cats are sneaky? I sure don't!
Full Name: Demoiselle
Nicknames & Phrases: Miss Wazzle, Hazy Mist wannabe,
pretty
pretty girl girl kitty kitty kitty (whispered),
Wazzle-kitty,
Demi-Waddle
Given B-day: August 15, 1993
Current Age: 13
Quirks: Kneads her paws in my hair, is very big on
giving
kitty kisses, tries
to open my mouth to fish around, pats my
face. She's also an "under
cover" kitty.
History:
Demi came to me at the request of a friend. She knew
a guy who had a kitten that
he was getting tired of having (GRRRR). She had her "3 square meals"
and her
litterbox but no loving. He was about to send her to the pound but
my friend con-
vinced him to wait until she asked me to take her, first. Well, who
was I to say no?
I couldn't turn her down! I'm glad I didn't, either!
The first thing Demi did was "wig out!" She was
going ape with all of those other
cats to befriend! She ran around, getting in everyone's face, trying
to be as sociable
as possible. Needless to say, the others weren't quite as
pleased!
It didn't take long for her to win them over, though. She was a bit
too active for the
older cats, but for Lucky, she was perfect!
They're roughly a month apart in age and
together, they enlivened the entire household! Sometimes even the oldest
cats would
get into the games but not very often.
For awhile I had concerns that we might have babycats
among the herd. Even
though Demi was only four months old, Lucky
had come of age a bit early and
began showering "attention" on his little playmate. At the time, I
was a little bit
strapped for cash and it took a few weeks to arrange financing to have
Lucky
neutered. I know that I've said that both of my vets work with me but
I do try not
to make use of that priviledge unless I must. As Demi was so young,
babies didn't
seem likely. Happily, Demi didn't conceive and both were "fixed" before
anything
else could come about. In a way, I have a few regrets. Demi and Lucky
would've
made beautiful kittens! It wouldn't have been responsible of me, though
and Demi
was too small at the time to take such a risk.
Like Lucky, Demi is a burrower. One of her favorite ways
to cuddle is to settle in on
my shoulder, buried in my hair. She loves to crawl under the covers
with me at night,
too (until someone steps on her, that is)! :-) Demi is very
big on giving kisses! She'll
wash my face until it's sore if I let her! If I'm whispering to her,
that either prompts
the kisses or she paws at my lips, trying to open my mouth. I don't
let it get that far
since the day she actually put her paw in my mouth! That's just a bit
too much!
Demi has calmed down quite a bit since her kitten days
but she still loves to play.
Funnily enough, Image (See: In Loving
Memory) even played with her now & then.
He didn't play very often once he'd grown older. Demi, however, could
rekindle that
spark where the others would just irritate him.
Demi is as adaptable as Lucky. She can be every
bit the lady in the presence of the
herd's "matriarch," Beau ( See: In
Loving Memory). She can also be gentle enough
for Fresca ( See: Fresca &
Chester), and ornery enough for Cimmaron (See: The
Bru'
Clan).
It cracks me up to watch this little lady meow! Her mouth
opens so widely that her whole
face scrunches up and you expect to hear, "MEOW!" Instead,
you get this soft, high
pitched meow that sounds like a question (will you please love on
me?). Since she doesn't
do much talking, her greeting to you is short but sweet! She's undoubtedly
happy to see
you, though! She only talks when she really has something important
to say!
To me, Demi is always a lady and a wonderful companion
for everyone! Her contribution
to the Herd is one of fun and precious kitty lovin'! If you want a
"Demi-kiss," just whisper
to her and she'll love you for it!
Some of the best love comes in small packages... or in
twos...or threes...or in boxes...:-)
The smallest feline is a masterpiece.
