This and the pic from which this web page set was made

were taken during the all-too-short period when I had a

digital camera and just before it refused to work with

my operating system. :-(

Full Name: Sundown

Nicknames & Phrases: Beautiful orange boy, Sweet Sundown, The Prince of Pudge

Given Birthday: October 2, 1995

Current Age: 10

Quirks: Jumps pretty high when startled, loves belly rubs,

combings & he love-bites

History:

Sundown was abandoned along with 3 other pets by a former neighbor. This neighbor

had asked me to help find homes for them. I was still looking for homes for two and

waiting for confirmation on the other two when the neighbors moved. The day they left,

I didn't realize that they weren't coming back soon. I'm not a nosey neighbor but a big

truck or moving van is hard to miss on that street.

That day there wasn't anything of the sort at their house. I kept looking outside for

them to come home because I had a friend who wanted to see their Persian cat Seymore,

before she decided. When it grew late, I went to check on the pets.

Their Cocker Spaniel, Rusty, was tied up outside without food or water! Since I didn't

have dog food, I fed him from my fridge and filled his water bowl. Oh, I was mad!! Little

Bit (See: In Loving Memory) was running around outside, and the other two cats were

locked in the house.

When the neighbors still didn't come back the next day, I took matters into my own hands.

I called the friend who wanted Seymore and explained the situation. I was hoping that I

wouldn't have to call the city to open the house to get the cats out! It was high summer and

there was no power to cool the place! I also had no way of knowing whether or not the kitties

locked in the house had food or water! Fortunately, there was a broken window at the back of

the house. When my friend arrived to see if she could help, Seymore had found his way outside.

She took to him right away and took him straight home. In a couple of days, another friend took

Rusty.

The rest is history. I took Sundown in for FeLV testing, had him neutered and he's now a well

established member of the Herd. I had to change his original name, which was "Orangeball." I

just couldn't deal with it since it was given to him because he's male (need I say more?).

Sundown was about 9 mos old when he joined the Herd. The pictures that I posted here were taken

after he finished maturing. He's yet another source of pride and joy! He and Misty (see The Bru' Clan)

are among the most gentle cats in the Herd. He's always very careful when he plays with people. When

he plays with Cimmaron (Also: The Bru' Clan), it's another story. The two of them give new meaning

to the term "rough-house!" When they play, the other cats give them the wide berth. This doesn't always

work since these two cover a lot of ground!

Sundown also loves to be combed! For me, this is wonderful as my lovely Beau (See: In Loving

Memory),used to fight like a wildcat during combing. She'd mellowed as she' gotten older but

she still didn't like it. Sundown on the other hand, only needs to hear someone else being combed

for him to come on the run! He's pretty helpful about the whole thing, too! He'll roll around and

offer his belly up for the comb, too. :-)

Speaking of his belly, he has a pretty impressive case of FBS (See: Dif-"Fur"-nitions)! Since he's

become my son, he's gone from a long, skinny kitty to a big, beautiful bundle of cuddle! My gorgeous

orange boy is a tried and true cuddlebug! When he's not tearing through the house with Cimmaron

or terrorizing Misty, he's usually somewhere near me. When it's time for a belly rub, he likes to love-bite.

He's extremely gentle about it, though.

Fresca (See: The Older Generation) needs to take lessons from him! She's just a bit too enthusiastic in

her own displays of affection (owww!)! :-)

Sundown is a very loving kitty and he'll probably want to give you a love-bite. Don't worry, you'll barely

feel it! When you sit down, grab the comb and he'll come running!

Since I was a dolt and accidentally deleted Sundown's greeting

(for which I don't have a backup), Here's a midi I thought appropriate :-)
