    • Blue and Gold Macaws [Ara ararauna]


    Our Blue and Golds
      We have 1 pair of blue and gold macaws. These make wonderful pets for people who have the time to take care of them, however, they are not reccomended for families with small children or that plan to have them. Family Bird:Sometimes, but usually Macaws fixiate on one person and tolerate the rest or bite the rest. Not good for small children.
      Noise:Can be very noisy and need lots of room. Not generally suitable for apartments or condos.

    Our new greenwing macaw!
      We have 1 pair of Greenwings. We are proud to say that this set of greenwings are the newest addition to our avairy! They are one of the largest of the macaw family with a very large and powerful beak, but the greenwing is a very gentle clam bird by nature. These make wonderful pets for people who have the time to take care of them but are NOT recommended for families with young children, or that plan to have them. (It is not uncommon to see in the paper: "Bird for sale -- new baby coming". Family Bird:Sometimes, but usually Macaws fixiate on one person and tolerate the rest or bite the rest.     Umbrella Cockatoos [Cacatua alba]


    Our Umbrella Cockatoo
      We have 2 pairs of Umbrella Cockatoos. These make wonderful pets for families and are very loving and gentle. They do need A LOT of attention and can be spoiled easily. If you get a cockatoo, from the first few days, you must only give it attention that it can expect to recieve in the next 5-10 years. Spoiled birds can pluck or scream making them unloved and unwanted in many homes. Also, the umbrellas love to chew, so indestructible toys are not recommended. If they cannot destroy it they soon become bored with it. Family Bird:Yes, although Umbrella cockatoos may have a favorite they do like everyone

    Goffins Cockatoos[Cacatua goffini]


    Our Goffins Cockatoo
      We have 3 pairs of Goffins Cockatoos. They don't demand as much attention as the Umbrellas or space fairly good with children. The Goffins have also been called "feathered beavers" for their size they are more destructive than birds twice their size. Family heirloom beware!!

      The Goffin is not as big a load as the larger cockatoos but can crank up the volume if they feel neglected. They do need A LOT of attention too and like any cockatoo, can be spoiled easily. Family Bird:Yes, although Goffins cockatoos may have a favorite they usually do like everyone

    Triton Cockatoos[Cacatua galerita triton]


    Our Triton
      We have 1 pair of Triton Cockatoos. They are a bit less noisy than the other species of cockatoos but *CAN* make a lot of noise when they want to. These fit the category of "VelcroBird" as well but are not as demanding as umbrellas. However, don't be tempted -- they can be spoiled too. If you get a cockatoo, from the first few days, you must only give it attention that it can expect to recieve in the next 5-10 years. Spoiled birds can pluck or scream making them unloved and unwanted in many homes. Family Bird:Yes, but they can pick favorites and only tolerate others. Not generally possessive though, but still not as loving as some cockatoos.
      Noise:Can be noisy and does scream regularly, but is not as noisy as other species. Still not generally suitable for apartments or condos.

    Cages
    We suggest that if you buy your own cage, you buy the biggest that you can afford! This would mean that the bird can spread its wings (UNCLIPPED) in all directions leaving at least 2 inches away from the sides. Some smaller breeds may need larger cages because they are so active.

    We also make custom cages. They are constructed from galvanized steel, spay painted with non-toxic spray and are on a stand with casters. Please inquire for more information.
