I am now going to talk about something where your ferret hopefully will spend as less as possible days living in it : The ferret cage. A ferret cage should at least have the following dimensions : 120 * 50 * 50 cm for two ferrets. This cage has to be totally ferret proof, what means that the material should be strong enough for their teeth and that there may not be any opportunity for your thin pet to get outside of the cage through the bars. It might surprise the new owner how easily this can be done by the newly acquired ferret : I also had the bad experience of loosing a ferret because it sneaked through bars while this seemed impossible to me (this is not that nice of an experience). Just remind the fur always let your ferret look thicker than it actually is and that they can be fretty (synonym for very) persistent in getting out if they want so.
Concerning the size of your ferret-cage: This can
never be to large. Most ferret owners luckily keep their ferrets in larger
cages than the minimum standards. An excellent idea is to build your own
ferret cage with several levels. These cages can contain between 2 and
about 6 levels, depending on the available space and budget. Rule of the
game concerning this : The bigger the better. To get an idea about how
to make such a nice ferret palace, I refer to the following ferret

Each ferret cage should at least contain the following : 2 or more small cat boxes, 1 nest box, 1 salt mineral block , one playmate, water bottle, towels, toys, food bowls. It is the best if the food bowls are made of stainless steel or plastic. These materials will not rust and will also not accommodate bacteriums. The food bowls have to be cleaned very thoroughly at least once a week. For this, you can use washing-up liquid with some salt in it to disinfect everything.
Ferrets may never spent a whole day in the cage, but have to have some playing time outside the cage for at least 2 hours every day. But it is fffery nice (both for the ferrets and their owners) when your ferret spends much more time outside the cage than this minimum of 2 hours. Ferrets just love playing and most ferret owners enjoy it even more.
Toys
Ferret can play with a lot of different objects. Some examples : Bags, bottles, paper, balls, clothes/rags. Toys making noise are really nice for ferrets. Ferrets like toys with bright colours. Giving these kind of toys to your animals will increase the funny and nice moments for both the ferret(s) and the owner. It is just very nice to see your ferret(s) playing with some kind of toy. Besides, the ferret can not do less nicer things (like playing around by biting your doggie in its feet ) when playing with the above mentioned toys.
Lashes
If you want to take walks with your ferret, you need a lash. There are special lashes for ferrets. When putting this lashes on, you have to be sure that they are tight enough preventing your ferret to sneek away.
