ROSES THAT GROW WELL in the San Francisco Bay Area

*WHITE ROSES:
• SALLY HOLMES: One of the great Roses of the world. Rated at about 9.0. A huge shrub--White with Salmon overtones. Massive bloom clusters. Totally disease free.
• HONOR: The best all around White Hybrid Tea. Very productive on resistant cultivar.
• *POLARSTERN (aka Polar Star): Excellent White Hybrid Tea. Superb show form and adequate bloom cycle to look good in the garden. *(See photo.)
• WHITE DELIGHT: Needs some sun. Performs best East of Twin Peaks, but worth growing and showing.
• ICEBERG: A great White Floribunda, world famous.
• PRISTINE: Much admired for form and color. A sure show winner. Opens very quickly.
• FRENCH LACE: Ivory White Floribunda. Good bloom clusters. Excellent form.
• MARGARET MERRIL: Pure White, good form, very fragrant. Comes as a single or in small clusters. The plant of this cultivar is very handsome. Superb foliage.

*BLENDS:
• JUST JOEY: A huge Orange Rose! Very fragrant and with an unusual form which is most appealing. For cutting or showing, it is unbeatable. Needs some spraying and care.
• BILL WARRINER: Very disease free, needs no spraying. Thick foliage. Pink Blend Floribunda. A very beautiful rose.
• JOSEPH'S COAT: Multi colored pillar or climber. Red/Yellow color. A great Rose!
• *PEACE and CHICAGO PEACE: After over fifty years, still the best known of all Roses. One is a sport of the other. Choose either or both. They should be in every garden. *(See photo.)
• CARIBBEAN: Does very well in San Francisco. Great Orange color.
• FOLKLORE: Tall Orange color. You could win a Queen with this Rose.
• PARADISE: We have to put Mauve in here somewhere. This is the best one.
• BRIGADOON: Turing out to be an excellent Rose. Pink Blend. Good bloom cycles.

*RED ROSES:
• KARDINAL (KORLINGO): This medium sized red Rose is becoming the standard to measure other Red Roses. It is an excellent free blooming Hybrid Tea.
• *OLYMPIAD: Very popular Red Hybrid Tea. Consistent, good form. Could use more bloom cycles.

• PRECIOUS PLATIMUM: Underrated Red Hybrid Tea. Consistent disease resistant and on a very good plant. It will take a lot of garden room.
• MIKADO: A Red Blend Hybrid Tea. Good in the Rose Shows, great in the garden.
• ALTISSIMO: A very fine five petaled climber. Grows more like a tall shrub. Prolific bloom. Easy to grow.
• INGRID BERGMAN: Excellent Red Rose. Order from Regans. Good show Rose.

*YELLOW ROSES:
• ELEGANT BEAUTY: Try this medium sized Yellow Hybrid Tea. It is an excellent show Rose with good bloom potential. Better than Helmut Schmidt.
• *HELMUT SCHMIDT: It has been the standard by which other Yellow Roses are measured in San Francisco. It is an excellent all-purpose Rose, but at times, the centers will form a ball. *(See photo.)
• GOLD MEDAL: A great Yellow Grandiflora, which may be the best Rose in San Francisco. It is going to be on the show table in every Rose Show in Northern California. Many bloom cycles each year.
• GRAHAM THOMAS: Famous Yellow Austin (English Rose). Big, full flowered. Very worth growing.
• SUNSPRITE: Best of the Yellow Floribundas. Lots of bloom. Disease resistant.
• ELINA: Excellent Light Yellow Hybrid Tea. Great spring bloom, but the cycle of bloom will diminish in the fall season.

*PINK ROSES:
• TOURNAMENT OF ROSES: Everyone's favorite Pink Rose. Free blooming Grandiflora with a good show form. Abundant bloom.
• *MARIJKE KOOPMAN: Good show Rose, disease resistant. Very attractive bush. *(See photo.)
• BARONESS ROTHSCHILD: Excellent Pink Hybrid Tea. A sure show winner.
• ELIZABETH TAYLOR: Does justice to a famous name. Very elegant.
• DUET: Old time favorite Pink Hybrid Tea. Magnificent foliage and good show form. Prefers cooler climates.
• PINK PARFAIT: Not big, but abundant. Will outbloom most Roses in your garden.
• PLAY GIRL: From Ralph Moore. Five huge deep pink petals. A super Floribunda!
• THE FAIRY: A wonderful Polyantha. Blooms in clusters of small sevenpetal flowers. Very prolific. Much revered Rose!
