Well, we're starting to come down to the six months to go mark. This is where stuff really starts cooking. We've got our date, we know where we're getting married and where the reception will be. The big decisions are made. And I just checked off another one on our list....The dress. Would you like to see a picture of my wedding dress?
We've also picked out the invitations and I think I've figured out what my colors will be, finally. Chosing the wedding dress helped in that regard. After my initial choice of red bridesmaids' dresses fell through (the designer I picked didn't have the shade of red I was looking for). I went through several options, one of which was black, which was fine for two out of four in the bridal party, but didn't sit well with the parental units. :-)
Anyway, the wedding dress I picked has some "rum pink" embroidery, so that helped to narrow my choices for complementary bridesmaids' dresses and bouquets. I won't let you see the dresses and colors until after the wedding, but if you are so inclined, you can track it down yourself. I've picked the Wtoo collection's "Wisteria" and the bridesmaids get to pick their dress from nine choices. |

Well, it will be six months til the wedding tomorrow. They say this is the time when the months will fly by. I believe it! I can't believe it's almost the end of February already. I know Johnie wishes it were here and done with. :-)
Well, we head on up to Boston for some more major planning next weekend. On the agenda will be to pick the bakery for the cake, talk to the DJ and photographer, check out the reception site again, (I've got to remember to take pictures), and go try on dresses with Tonia and Carline. And somewhere in the midst of that, have some fun spending time with family and friends.
As far as the cake goes, my mother and sister think there is no need to even spend the time with a tasting at several bakeries. Their vote is Konditer Miester (sp?). Unless they are completely rediculous with their prices (which I doubt), I think they're going to be it. Likewise with the DJ and the photographer. They're pretty much chosen and we're on their books for the 19th of Aug., but I still want to meet with them to be sure.
Oh, I found one of the items I've been actively searching for....satin ribbon. I want to hand tie my bridal party bouquets in coordinating satin ribbon. All of the ones I came acros were not the high quality fabric ribbon I was looking for. I finally found some beautiful hand dyed satin and silk ribbon at of all places...Calico Corners! My store! I'm in there all the time and never paid attention to the ribbon. They even have it in Wisteria, the color of the bridesmaids dresses. It's perfect.
Well, one less item in the long list of things we have to track down. Next up...Flowers...but I think I've got a good lead on some real inexpensive roses. :-) |
