Wow, this month's concerts are going pretty good. I have to say i had a lot of fun at this show. I made some comparisons with others and the only partial downfall was that the vitamins set was cut short.
The set started off with Robergne ( aka Rob Green?), it was pretty mellow, but most fo the songs were enjoyable and humourous. The set was pretty short and was followed up by with Go dog Go. They played decently enough and there was one song that was pretty damn catchy. Other than that it seems to blend in to mediocrity, i'm sure next time i see them i'll enjoy them more ( that's what always seems to happen with me)
This is where the show started to get off it's lazy ass --> Eww... you're a girl and girl's suck. The last time i saw them was August '98 and i've got to say they're alot better than i remember them ( ack! don't take that in a bad way!). They had alot of energy going and had people dancin around and whatnot. Their set was not only musically together, but alot of fun.
Next up, Hoodrat! yeeeaaa baby,,, this was the first time i've seen them and i thought they kicked the big ass. There aren't many other girl-fronted punk bands out there ( let alone some i like!), but i loved these guys. They have an original vocal and musical sound and they also seem like a smart and caring bunch <--- if anyone has their 7" you will see what i mean. It's nice to see that some ppl still give a shit about society.
They were followed up with Random Killing and Out of Hand ( sorry, i'm speeding this up, but i dont want it to get too long.) I'm not the biggest fan fo either band, but they played well...RK dressed in bizarre costumes nothing less. If i had to pick between the two sets, i'd go with Out of Hand. There was a slight lack of action in both sets (probably due that most ppl were there to see MV and were in the back not paying attention <-- you guys suck!).
And now............ Marilyn's Vitamins! Well, what can i say... they had the crowd going off and everything. They played good ( as usual), and even did a couple new songs. Shit, you'd think i had more to say bout them since they're one of my favorite bands. I dont think they played as great as maybe some other times i'd seen them, but hell, it's the vitamins. It wasn't some big failure, in fact, it was far far from it. They played great, the crowd was wild, all in all a good set.
okay, well, that wraps this up ( finally!). Thanx to Mike Goldlist for putting on the show.
oh yeah band info ---> Robergne and Go Dog Go: no idea what's going on with them ( ask mike), Out of Hand, Random Killing, and Marilyn's Vitamins have got stuff out on
Raw Energy
, Hoodrat has a split LP out with Consumerists (i'll put the link up sometime soon), and Eww.... has a CD (ep?) out "Somethin for the Ladies" available through them (Sucker Records). Thanx, that's it.
