Links and other crucial info
The other site devoted to surfing in Trinidad and Tobago is that belonging to the islands' top shaper and 2 times winner of the Carib Shandy / Beach Break National Championship - Alan Davis.

In case you missed the animated forecast on the Home Page, the 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72 and 84   hour wave forecasts for the N Atlantic are
here. Remember that the continental shelf  dissipates swell quickly. 6 foot often means 2 foot!

And look for weather systems approaching us on the
current view of the Caribbean from space .  During hurricane season (June-November, it's worth checking out the NOAA site which includes hurricane tracking, strike possibilities and wave and weather predictions. Crucial for all surfers and weather nerds.

There are two Surf Reports to Trinidad (Vol 10/3) and Tobago (Vol 10/2), though both are out of date, exagerate the quality of surf here and only available through the post. Tel: 1 714 496 5922 or fax 1 714 496 7849 for details.

For surfing elsewhere in the Caribbean, try this site on
Guadeloupe, this on Barbados, here for Antigua or this on Puerto Rico. A UK surfing magazine, Surfer's Path, have a text version of a guide to surfing in the Caribbean. Edition 25 of this magazine had an article on the excellent waves that can be scored up de islands, especially in Tortola.

There are Surf Reports (see above) to nearly all the Caribbean islands - an indication that, given the right conditions (mainly during hurricane season and the winter season) and local knowledge, there's surf to be ridden everywhere.

On most Caribbean islands there are no or only a handful of surfers. Your webmaster has surfed two islands where he's been alone in the water in headhigh hollowness. Go there instead of T+T.

However, on a few islands there are large crowds and the associated craziness and bacchanal. This includes T+T.

Links to the best surfing websites in the world can be found at
Surfer Resources. The best sites about surfing in the UK are, in my humble opinion, Coldswell (which also has links to other worldwide sites), legm98 and Magic Bus .

For more information about the islands' culture, business, Carnival, sport etc go to the
Yahoo! browser or a whole collection of Trinidad and Tobago sites here.
