Where to go | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
I'm not telling you!!! As stated near the beginning of this site, for most of the year the surf is small, onshore and gutless. when it ent, it's crowded and a hassle. Treat the locals with respect - most are friendly and welcome new surfers, but don't push it! Don't drop in, don't hog the peak. A minority of locals are aggressive, badass motherf*ckers. Avoid them. Robbery from persons and vehicles is common at some beaches, especially from foreigners and rental vehicles Here are a few wellknown spots: In Trinidad: On the N coast: Las Cuevas - nearest surfable spot from Port of Spain. Gutless beachbreak, a long walk to get to it and bandit-filled bush. Blanchisuesse: a few gutless / take off and die closeout spots. On the NE coast: Balandra: ever wondered what it's like in a washing machine during the rinse cycle? Now's your chance to find out. Toco: the most pathetic reef break known in the world. Backs off and the reefisn't even sharp. Crowded with dropping in Venies and stroppy locals. Beach Break: much over-rated and imaginatively named spot. Rarely worth the 2.5 hour drive from Port of Spain. |
